From Latin, the word 'paganus' originally just meant 'peasant' or 'rural', the people who worked the land. In terms of religion, it then came to refer to their 'folk' practices, i.e. what people believed and did before the Romans cruised through with Christianity.
The term 'pagan' became an insult, a way of supressing indigenous practices by making them seem old-fashioned, uneducated and ignorant. Unfortunately, Christianity hasn't lost this hubris which had far more to do with Roman culture than the teachings of Jesus.

There is some proof that Hinduism is a distant Abrahamic religion. Also, Zoroastrians are considered part of the "People of the Book" meaning from the Books of the God of Abraham. I think people need to study each religion deeply before they can come to that conclusion. According to Islam, Buddha may be a Prophet of God, as well as Confucius. Islam says God sent a Prophet to every tribe and nation all over the world. So there must be some remnant of the truth somewhere in there. Islam is the most crystal clear religion God revealed to humanity.

That depends on who you ask. Some people prefer the title of Pagan as a point of pride and distinction. It separates them from the three paths of Abraham and establishes their Independence. On the flip side, it is intended to be a form of slur towards the other religions.

Pangel, it is strictly what I assume. There are as many procedures to get to religious solidarity with god(ess) as there are people who've ever existed. each and each man or woman that ever existed is a different man or woman, why ought to all of us could desire to stuff that forte down and suppress it to alter into automatons, worshipping interior the top comparable way as absolutely everyone else? It makes genuinely no experience to me in any respect. Deity needs us to discover our very own path, our very own voice, our very own thank you to love and befriend him/her. If it got here out any incorrect way that often is the main dissapointing factor of all. Brightest advantages, Raji the eco-friendly Witch

Not wrong. That's what pagan means. What's wrong is to consider that there's something wrong with being pagan, if that's what your society or beliefs have given to you. Or believe that all pagans are just like each other.

It's a bit ethnocentric (or, well, religiocentric) - people break everyone into "us" and "them", and then make broad, sweeping statements against "them" that aren't very accurate.
Strikes me as rather simplistic, but humans have a tendency to do that.
