Some times it is very hard and sudden and causes me to fall down, other times it just makes me lose my balance. It can happen once a day or several times a day, or it may not happen for weeks at a time. It mostly happens when I move my head toi quickly or even just my eyes. I have very severe headaches, starting at the base of my neck on the right side and goes around to my eyes. Has anybody else had this?

It sounds to me very much like your problem is due to poor blood circulation in the brain. This can be due to many reasons and must be assessed by a doctor, since the reasons for it range from something as simple as muscle tension to something as severe as a blood clot or tumour. The headaches can be related to the "shockwave" feelings, or be completely unrelated and due to bad posture. As you see, there are a number of reasons to see a doctor. Do not take this lightly, especialy if it is causing you to "fall down". This indicates to me that it is more than tension. There is no way to know except through x-rays and possibly a CT scan, but either way only a doctor can assist you with an accurate diagnosis.
