Hi JESS,
Yes, I have had two sleep studies about 3 years apart. It was for sleep apnea, because I have excessive daytime sleepiness.
It was not bad, although it is not something I would volunteer for. It is not painful or anything. It's just strange sleeping in a strange bed, hooked up with a bunch of wires, especially to the head. The wires on your head are held on by a washable glue--and your very movement is being monitored electrically and by infrared video camera. It could be worse. They make every effort to make you feel comfortable-- it's sort of like staying in a hotel and you can watch TV until they tell you "lights out". Sometimes they will do a daytime sleep study as well. Again, you can watch TV or read a book etc. until they tell you that they want you to try and fall asleep. Like I said, if you're wondering what it's like, there's nothing really to fear. The biggest thing was the feeling of invasion of privacy while you are sleeping. But that really was not a factor so much in my second sleep study. OOOps! I just read your small print... you work in a sleep lab. Well, I'm not going to erase what I wrote it's late--1:30 am. See, I've still got a whacked out sleep schedule! Cpap didn't help at all JESS, I still sleep 16-18 hours a day. What a way to live. I call it the "Rip Van Winkle Syndrome"- you know-sleep for a hundred years. Hope you all in sleep labs can make some progress in helping people like me. Like is too precious to sleep away. See ya! In the words of a famous song of classic rock n' roll: "Sweet dreams, Baby, Sweet Dreams Baby. Sweet Dreams Baby, How long must I dream?"

definite. If it is been reported with the help of your scientific expert, it is the comparable as being counseled, and the respond then is definite, have it performed. you will could desire to spend the evening, a minimum of, in a wellbeing facility or loose-status sleep health center, under pressure out approximately 20 diverse procedures, with each analyzing being recorded. you will additionally be videotaped as an accessory to the recording, yet you are able to decide out of that. i might propose which you do no longer, as there is powerful ideas on your sleep professional in that video. The recording will take some weeks to be analyzed, and your referring scientific expert gets a record that incorporates your diagnoses and ideas. yet right here is my question to you - while you're issues, including migraines, why are you asking a pair of sleep learn instead of seeing a neurologist? which would be far greater acceptable.

Yes I have. What do you do when people finally fall asleep? Do you sit and make fun of them when they drool on the pillow? It took me forever to fall asleep due to all the electrodes and wires. Do you find your work boring? Just wanted to know.
