Based on news reports after fires, floods, earthquakes, tornados, etc., the survivors seem to think so.

If so, God is responsible for the deaths too.

So, why did God kill 250,000 people in the Asian tsunami?

Mashu: if death is not a bad thing, then why is it cited as a divine punishment throughout the Bible?

Yes GOD save people from natural disaster!!!
People in the neighbouring region believe ,it is the end of times for some of Aceh people.( i was once live near the area )

What news report DO NOT TELL,..are the following:

1.Aceh people,(99% Muslim),..they called them selves people of the terrace of Mecca.(they feel very GENUINELY MUSLIM).

2.They apply Sharia Law..punishment.Thye also condemn other people...Muslim or not..as infidel....or sinner.

3.In other things,...it is well knowned that they PLANTED MARIYUANA,..and sell to other regions...which by other people in indonesia thats consider as Hypocrite.

4.In Aceh tsunami:...most of land WASHED away.....GONE DISSAPEAR...even cemeteries!!!....in other natural disaster,....are NOT that severe!!

GOD didnt killed people,...the destruction come from interaction of human...and the ecosystem.
ALL GOODNESS...come from GOD,...all SADNESS,..BADTHINGS come from HUMAN or EVIL.

Praise to God,..i have experience and testifying not only once,...but several times of being SAVED by GOD,...in many disaster...MANY TIMES!!

PS: ..additional notes...1.for other area/region YES they have something similar,...I DONT WANT TO JUDGE,...but Thailand(PHUKET AREA)...u know what place is that(sex for money/soddom gomorah?).....Sri Langka,...CIVIL WAR,...in the name of RELIGION(worshipping POLITICS NOT GOD) and ethnics,....India,...There were unbalance VALUE IN SOCIETY,...money and power above moral and spiritual,...as for INDIA,..there were 3 hindust Gods
statue(Brahma,Shiva, and Whisnu),..only SHIVA still standing,..other statue were drfited by tsunami,...means it was SHIVA WORKS.(GOD OF DESTRUCTION IN HINDUISM)

2.Why I emphasize Aceh,....because it was the EPICENTRE of earthquake.

The very problem from the beginning is that you view death as a bad thing. If God exists, Heaven exists, and the only way to get to heaven (in case you haven't realized it) is to die, then death is your passport to Paradise! Yes, it may be unpleasant for a moment, and terrifying, but these people have just had their suffering ended tens of years earlier.

Also, what's up with this narrow-mindedness? People die in natural disasters, people die from cancer, and a lot of good comes out of this":bad" things. Without evil, war for example, there would be no chance for truly great goodness (courag, heroism), or if your spouse had cancer and you remained faithful.

Thirdly, though God is very involved in our lives, to be honest, he gives us free will, and if our choices (such as not being prepared, or golbal warming), cause these deaths, he will let them happen.

P.S.
God's the best!

Many time god saves people till his strong room get "House Full" similar incident like the ship of Noya in Bible.
But incase of Tsunami ? He was in sleeping condition to save the mass, after awaking from sleep he saved a few. But in past god failed in many cases to save people died with many simple disease because simple medicine was not been invented by man.
He also failed to save 'Dodo Bird' , Dinos and many other abolised creatures. Most probably god has overlooked.
Understand ? the matter is very complex.

Funny how if God is so loving and all-knowing he didn't do much to help those people. And no don't feed me that crock about how God was in the spirit of everyone who helped if God did care he would prevented the disaster in the first place. But nope it was his plan so basically you could pray all you want it won't change a thing because it's his plan.

Hmmm.

Some people trusted god very much. They thinks that all events happened in the life is done by god.We can't neglect them also. But at present humans are become very selfish we are disturbing nature in many ways.So we have to face its consequences also. Many peoples have lost their life in such hazards bot some amazingly escaped. Our epics also describes such event.I am an Indian and in India peoples have a strong faith in god.So nobody can really satisfy you with the answer but we can give you our point of view

Apparently God does not save people from natural disasters.

unlike Vij I di not believe that all those people were guilty of some kind of sin and deserved to die like that.
and I disagree with the answer that says God did them a favor by short tracking them into heaven.

Yes, he does.

We all have an appointed time to be born and an appointed time to die.

My thinking is that mostly chidren died in the tsunami, right? They are mainly buddist and hindu in asian countries. He allows all children into heaven regaurdless of their parents beliefs.
He spared the children from growing up and practicing a false religon and following after false gods. In a way he really saved them from eternal damnation.

God gives us all life and He takes it away from every single one of us. He has "killed" billions of people in the history of mankind. What would you rather have him do? The world is not big enough for us to live forever and I don't think most of us would really want to. I suppose He could allow us all to live until we are 100 and then peacefully pass away in our sleep but that wouldn't give us any immediacy in our lives. I would have preferred that He didn't take so many lives at once and so many of them young and healthy but our lives are only temporary at best and every day we have is a gift from God.

By the way, I am not Christian or a believer in any organized religion.

by way of solid feeling to have escaped the disaster. it quite is organic of a pious nature. quite nevertheless God has no longer something to do with the casualties. They befell by way of fact they have been caught on the incorrect place on the incorrect time.

Sin rains on the just and the unjust. God is not the blame. Sin is running rampant and it only gets worse. The Earth is travailing because of the filthiness of sin in humanity and nature.
