i think it is a very real possiblity, the way the world is going i would not be surprised if someone told me that the human race doesnt last more than 1-2 hundred years from now.
Its only us that can prevent these things

Firstly, some people seem to believe anything so long as it's written down in a book - hence all the problems with fiction like the Da Vinci Code. The Bible is a combination work of somewhat muddled history, ethical teaching for primitive desert tribes (often very unethical by modern standards) and a rallying cry for the gullible to join a new scam and make money and power for the new priesthood.
In fact, unless we cull the world population very quickly, it's more likely that the world will end not with a bang but with a whimper. the sound of the last person dying of starvation and overheating. We don't need little local battles over the village of Meggido any longer.

lets hope there will not be another war in Meggido, a peaceful Kibbutz and archaeological site at the edge of the valley of Izrael. that is the meaning of the word Armageddon in Greek.

It's just one of a collection of rabid fantasy / prophesies culled from the scribblings of first century mystics and weirdies like John the Divine. Interesting in it's way, but complete gibberish.
Also one of the worst movies ever made, from an astronomer's point of view!

Don't know, all I care about, is that it happens in my lifetime. I'd hate to miss anything.

I do. Because man's lust for power is great enough to destroy himself and everything he cares for.
