In this age of Women's Rights, and the struggle for EQUITY, women still slap men and expect no reprisal. I see women talking all the time about slapping men in Questions and Answers also; do they expect men to take the slap, and not knock them on their butts? Or is it only big women slapping small men?? I don't get it, Ladies, what do you say??

I didn't mean to imply all women, or even most women, sorry for not being clearer, but my main point was, women who DO slap do so expecting no reprise from the slapee (the man). The % here of women who approve of it, or participate in slapping, and they also have included on their own, kicking in the balls, etc. I also did not mean to imply that this was in self-defence or to protect family, but slapping as seen in the movies, when a lady gets all upset over some perceived injustice or insult.

Sorry, bad sentence: The percentage of women here who seem to think that slapping is sometimes appropriate, at this point, is higher than I would have suspected.

I say this is an excellent point. I feel it is necessary to state that I am among the women who do not condone slapping as an offensive act....and only as a last resort defensively.
The response that said 'they do it to show they are unpredictable and powerful' is a very good summation from an outsider's viewpoint, but I think the one that said "because we can", is unfortunately the real reason for slapping. Perpetual slappers are spoiled brats who think they can get by with unacceptable behavior because they have never been challenged. Guys need to knock them on their butts a few times and maybe they'll finally learn that the no hitting policy applies to everyone, not just men.
They're giving the rest of us a bad rep.

This is part of Gender roles which have been established since the beginning of time. Men are stronger, and could severely injure a woman by punching them. Woman can slap without retribution. Woman want to be equal in all the beneficial ways such as jobs, voting, and education, but they still want the guys to pick up the check and slap a guy if they want.

Women slap men to show him she is powerful and unpredictable. When she does it she is showing she disapproves of his behavior but sometimes it is not justified on the spot but is built up inside of her through thoughts and feelings. For some, it is a reaction she has seen movies stars do so she thinks it is ‘classy’. She does not see it to be a problem. Women that slap once or twice don’t see it as abuse. These women think it is justified because he has hurt her feelings. He has let her down. He has misbehaved.
Some women slap heaps and hard. This is to control. Straight up she wants him to treat her like the strict parent and she treats him as a insubordinate child.
Slapping as on the shoulder is like acting as a mate but with a flirtatious touch.
She is trying to show her power and often just likes to show how much she can get away with.
In my opinion, for some men it is annoying to be slapped hard on the shoulder by a woman and it does affect him as he can’t hit her back for that is abuse. (because he is male) That must have some psychological consequence. Especially for young men as they feel they are being bullied.
I would think a slap across the face would be an insult and very harmful on the ego of a male.

I've always been a bit stumped by that. I'm the first to hit back if a man hits me first, but why start it? Then again, I'm a woman who will open a door for a man, and pay my own way on a date, so the reasoning of my gender is a bit beyond me. My advice to anyone is be aware of consequences. If you don't want a smack in the mouth, don't give one.

They don't get in too much trouble, or they assume men wouldn't make too much out of it for being slap. But if its the other way, some women may choose to sue the man for physical abuse or whatever.

There are several answers from the Ladies that I liked. Cuz they can is a good one. Personally, I think good-looking and intelligent Women can slap a man all she wants. Women are intelligent beings, much more so then males, and if a Women slaps a man, its always for a good reason whether the male can understand it or not. But it shouldn't stop their, if a male insults a Woman then after he is slapped he should have to kiss the Woman's feet and beg for forgiveness.
Also, male's are vunerable in their crotch, Women should use this advantage much more often. If a male isn't acting the way you want him, give hima sharp kick to the balls to knock him down, and then step on them with a sharpened end of a high heeled shoe. Maybe next time he'll respect you.
AubreY, I love your answer. I wish I had a girlfriend as dominating as you.

Woah, go easy on the generalizations. Let me clarify one thing: it is only a small minority of women who slap men and think it's ok.
Personally, I don't think it's ok for anyone to slap anyone else. Violence is wrong and should not be used except for self defense.

If a woman slapped me, for good or bad reason. I would be done with that relationship, period. It is never OK to use physical force to get your point across in my opinion.

Okay lets think about it this way, men are taught at a young age to be violent, not all men are, but masculinity in itself is violent. THis has a point. Let's think for a moment about what femininity is, it is considered (with no real proof, and stupid society make us out to be housecleaners by nature) weaker. So how do we equal the feild. By showing the man that we will not be under him. Its pack issue. Women are taught violence is wrong, so when they see men doing it, or they learn the ways of the pack order, they use it to gain dominance.
