The soul that is destined for hell is ripped out of the body by the angel of death. then it is wrapped in stinking, rotten clothes and brought up to paradise. it is shown paradise and the gates are shut. then it is shown hellfire and the gates are left open. then the soul is put back into the grave with it's body and the grave becomes so compressed that the ribs from one side fold into the ribs on the other side, like two hands clasping each other. the soul is tormented until the Day of Resurrection.. then is raised and God will Judge on the Day of Judgment

For the one headed for paradise, the angel of death gently removes the soul and wraps it in sweet smelling perfumes clothes and is accompanied by several angels. it is first brought to hellfire and the gates are shut for it. then it is brought to paradise where a window to it is left open. then the soul is returned to the body and the grave is expanded and the soul can meet others in there grave... that soul we be able to see the window to paradise until the Day of Resurrection. Then it will be judged on the Day of Judgment.

P.S. The waiting time (or life in the grave) is called Barzuk.

Quran "Allah takes away the souls of human beings at the time of their death; and during their sleep of those also that are not yet dead sleep. Then He retains those against which He has decreed death, and sends back the others till an appointed term. In that, surely, are Signs for a people who reflect. (Ch. 39, v. 43)

I understand what you're asking, you know how you go to sleep for hours but it only seems like a few minutes? Same thing when you die according to my understanding of the Quran. You will die and when you wake up, although thousands of years may have past, it will be Judgment Day. So that's why 1 and 2 are both correct because although time is going regular among the living, the dead are in a deep sleep dreaming or having nightmares or whatever they do, only to wake up at Judgment Day thinking they have only been sleep for half an hour or so.

as a matter of fact after your death it is believed that you are burried.
an angle will come and ask you a few questions - if you were good you will be able to answer them correctly, and vise versa.

if you answered the question you will still remain in your grave till the judgement day but the time taken for the day to arrive will be shortened and you will have a slight feeling of heaven in the grave. and the same if you were bad. hope it answers the question

none of the above ...... after someone dies, 2 angels come to his grave and ask the person ''who is ur God?'' and ''what is ur religion?'' ......... if a person answers ''Allah'' and ''islam'' he/she is sent to another world where that person is to live happily till the judgement day comes. if he/she answers any other way, their souls r again sent to another world where they feel lost and live a hard life till the judgment day comes. this world is actually located within the one we live in, just that it's invisible to us humans (forgot the exact name of this world B smt). the point is that they do not go to either heaven or hell till the judgment day comes .......... so what do u think about ghosts now? best wishes EDIT: Mustafa answered correctly 2nd EDIT: by ''none of the above'' i meant none of the options u gave :) just to avoid confusion

after death the grave is room of heaven or place of hell, that means if muslim behavours were good and according to allah(god) wills through his whole life were good grave will be as good as in heaven and if his behaviour was bad has alot of sins it will be as hell till judgment day,for non muslims it will be hell, escluded other beleivers in their prophet time as jesus 2000 years ago before bible change, and moses time and so on,and about the soul it will be in a place called ISTHMUS,no one knows exactly what is but all souls are going there and the good beleivers souls are free and not prisoned.
*i have alot of information about that but my english language is not very good, sorry.

3:185. Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception

hi!dear!well..when we die, first we(I mean our souls) go to a new world called"Barzakh".(which is much much bigger than this world&there is no time &location considered there)in which our deeds are judged totally, not in detail ,for example just our beliefs about God&Ma'ad(our belief about our future&where we will go),after being in this world we'll go to the other world called"Akherat"or"Akherah".in which our deeds are judged in detail&then God determines if we're capable to go to the Heaven or Hell

hi!I agree with Rezvan_Heaven,first after we died there are 2 angels called"Nakir"&"Monkar"who will ask us about our basic beliefs about God&his prophets, but God's detailed judgement is afterwards when we enter "Akherah",dear friend!I have to add that there are some different groups in Islam which have slightly different beliefs, but they don't deny each other in many cases.the main groups are "Shia"&"Sunny".I can tell u more about these things too(of course if u wanna be in touch with me),bye!

I've heard that after you die, that night someone visits your grave and asks you who is your god and if you answer correctly you go to heaven if not they tell you he left you his signs and you ignored them and you go to hell
