If my history is right, the Ten commandments were given to Moses to give to the Children of Israel. At this particular time they were from Egypt having crossed the Red Sea. and into the Arabian Desert. The Bible says Moses met God on Mt Sinai. Sinai was regarded at that time to be part of Egypt. The Isralites had a culture of their own though having egyptian influences. To get to define their culture see this:
Language:Aramaic
Art & Crafts:
Religion:-Judaism
Clothing: -the Sinai share with other Egyptians the jalabiyya, a long, hooded robe that is a standard form of clothing
Family Setting; -they lived as extended families, Grand parents, parents, children and sometimes un married aunts formed the basic family
Below are some notes copied from www.geographia.com. You will find a map and details of the same on this site and will help you in writing your project.

The culture of the people was Bedoui , the Arabic word from which the name bedouin is derived, is a simple, straightforward tag. It means "inhabitant of the desert," and refers generally to the desert-dwelling nomads of Arabia, the Negev, and the Sinai. For most people, however, the word "bedouin" conjures up a much richer and more evocative image--of lyrical, shifting sands, flowing robes, and the long, loping strides of camels.
For several centuries, such images were not far from the truth. In the vast, arid expanses of the Sinai, as in the Negev and the deserts of Arabia, the many tribes of the bedouin journeyed by camel from oasis to oasis, following a traditional way of life and maintaining a pastoral culture of exceptional grace, honor, and beauty.
Most of the bedouin tribes of the Sinai are descended from peoples who migrated from the Arabian peninsula between the 14th and 18th centuries, making the bedouin themselves relatively recent arrivals in this ancient land. Today, many of the bedouin of the Sinai have traded their traditional existence for the pursuits and the conventions of the modern world, as startling changes over the last two decades have irrevocably altered the nature of life for the bedouin and for the land they inhabit.
Nonetheless, bedouin culture still survives in the Sinai, where there is a growing appreciation of its value and its fragility.

lets play a game of history.
Question number one: What are the ten commandments from?
A:The bible.
q2: where is the bible from?
a2: the bible was commissioned by king James. it was based off of scripts written by christian and Jewish authors
q3: where did the scripts come from?
a3: The 'nation' of israel. Hebrew cultures. the ten commandments, according to the book of exodus in the christian bible, were given to moses as he led the children of israel from egypt to the promised land.
reccomendation: Not a christian, but i would reccomend picking up a bible and reading exodus. if you don't feel comfortable with that, look up the ten commandments in middle eastern mythology.

The 10 Commandments, from a religious view were written by God and given to Moses. If there was such a place for them to be created, I would say Israel. But theres not really an answer for that. The religion is Judaism and they were written in Hebrew

They were given to feeble jews/hebrews in a fable called the 'exodus'. They are:
1. You shall serve no other race but the jews.
2. You shall make graven images of famous jews and remember only the injustices that were done to jews.
3. You shall never say anything hurtful about a jew.
4. You shall keep one day a week in honor of the jews.
5. You shall pay all respects due to jews including your money and interest outstanding.
6. You shall not kill jews who are parasites.
7. You shall sleep with hideous jews who are also fat and ugly (but rich).
8. Ugggh, I just don't think I'll carry on. You fill this in, okay?

The Bible states that God gave Moses the commandments in the wilderness between Egypt and Israel.
DT 5:6 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
DT 5:7 "You shall have no other gods before me.
DT 5:8 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
DT 5:11 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
DT 5:12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do. 15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
DT 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
DT 5:17 "You shall not murder.
DT 5:18 "You shall not commit adultery.
DT 5:19 "You shall not steal.
DT 5:20 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
DT 5:21 "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
DT 5:22 These are the commandments the LORD proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

Thirty years ago, I created a set of tablets of the 10 commandments for a costume party. I went to a Synagogue and spoke to a Rabbi who helped with my project. I highly suggest you do the same, it can be a learning experience.
