There are circumstances where your blood group can change but it is usually due to malignant mutations mostly common in patients with Leukemia. Though I learned this theoretically, I could not believe that blood group changes until I saw myself cases of few patients who had their blood group change. (As we have to check for patients blood group before transfusion, blood group had to be rechecked every admission, that is why we know very well this fact.)

But better to check it again for confirmation as the clerical error could also be the probable cause.♥

Check out this one study report explaining this but if you are out of medical profession , the termst are quite difficult to understand.http://www.bloodjournal.org/cgi/content/full/98/5/1585

I have never heard of changing blood types. I know that over time your blood can change RH factor. My grandmother was o+ when she got married then after 6 children and more years she is now 86 and o-. Is it possible that one of the tests was mis read by either you or the person reading the results.

It doesn't really matter what your blood type is until you need a transfusion. If you are o- you can donate to any other type, if you are ab+ you can receive from any type. If you are rh- you can only receive a neg type matching or acceptable match to your own type. Mine is b+ so I can donate to b+ and ab+ but I can receive from b+/- and o+/- because it doesn't contain a protein I don't already have. a+/- has a protein different from mine and would be rejected. My sister is o- and can give to anyone, when she donates it usually happens to be a day they are collecting blood for the babies, I think they only use o- on babies anymore. My mom is o+ so she can only receive o type blood, my sister can only receive o-. O- is what they call a universal donor because all types can receive it, ab+ is a universal receiver because it has all pritein types so it can receive from all types.

Blood groups have nothing to do with this. Instead you need to check for genetic incompatabilities, so getting tested to see whether you or he are a carrier of any diseases (genetic disorders) which would be passed on to the child. I have included an article from wikipedia about this. Other than that, the only reason for an unhealthy baby would be problems during the actual formation of the foetus, as in the replication of the chromosomes after fertilization. You can avoid most problems by getting pregnant through IVF, I've also included an article about that. Goodluck!
