This is what you do: Go to the pd station, pick up a grievance form. If anyone tries to "talk with you" instead, just brush him off. Go to the ACLU website, brush up on your civil rights (you may end up checking in more reasons for your complaint), and write a statement of what happened. Swear it, have it notarized, turn it in, and get a receipt.
Wait for Internal Affairs to say they found no proof. Then, take your documentation to the mayor of the town, and legislators. It may not do much, but you get the name of the cop in the right circles, and a copy of the grievance in his personnel file. You never know, it could be what forces him to straighten out, or the drop that overflows the cup.
Good luck.

Oh you 'accidentally' give the cop a wrong ID. That's because you didn't know where your boyfriend was staying... right? The cop also 'assualted' him for no reason... right? Now you want a court to make a restraining order against the cop, because he's the bad guy and your boyfriend is 'innocent' ... right? Then you can go to the news because they're going to take sympathy on you and your boyfriend... right? He'd better have a record of never having been arrested, be an excellent student, have a great work record, and pass a few drug tests before anyone's going to start feeling sorry for him. Most people NEVER get in trouble with the police. Why do you think that is?

You cannot place a retraining order on an officer because your BF resisted arrest. He would have to do that. Also the police have the right and authority to use reasonable force in order to effect and arrest. If your BF was running his mouth and/or giving the police any trouble while being placed under arrest you should just forget any orders and learn a lesson.
You know your BF and his personality, the police do not. What appears to be resisting to you is likely vastly different to the police. A good cop will not give people an inch to resist. If they do, they will have a strong possibility of being injured.
If you really think that your BF was attacked then talk him into getting a lawyer. If your BF was acting like a fool, then save yourself some cash and forget the lawsuit.

Well just so I can add my 2 cents. What you need to do is contact Oprah. She is from Mississippi, she has a load of cash and she is famous. When Oprah calls you back, let her know the whole story. Crying while talking to Oprah is always a good thing. She likes that. Then she will ask you whether you have read her book of the month, she might even send you a ticket for her show. (She probably wont send you 2 tickets as your bf is in jail and she might figure you dont want to be reminded of that [she is sensitive to your thoughts]). IF you take her up though and go to Chicago, you will have the opportunity of 1. seeing the Windy City, catching a Bears Game, drinking a coupld of Old Style beers, and very good possibility of meeting a new man. One who has a job and knows how to stay out of trouble with the Police. If not then when you get to the show and Oprah says Hi to her ask Oprah if she knows any single guys in Mississippi. Oprah porbably knows everyone in the State of Mississippi and I am sure she would love to help you out. If Oprah ignores you then there is always Doctor Phil !!!!

I would not go to the press on your own. You need legal protection because I doubt that this is the entire story and the last thing you need is a legal problem on your hands. He should be assigned a public defender. Talk to this person. Also contact a lawyer about a police brutality claim. Legal Aid will help you if you cannot afford an attorney. The only way that they would send your bf to Mississippi is if he has outstanding charges there. We don't deport people from a state to another state. And since the alleged assault took place in your state, that is where he would tried.

you should definately contact the press, file a complaint against the officer, and see a lawyer. Try to keep tabs on any witnesses and gather as much evidence as you can. I can't really help with the specifics as I'm no lawyer but don't just let it go quietly.
I've been messed with by cops before so I can relate. The officer just got a reprimand over it but at least I got off the hook. They go too far quite often.

Why were the police looking for him anyway,
And if he resisted arrested the police officer can legally use the level of force that is needed to make the arrest.
And if he is going to another state that means there was a warrnat for him and they want him bought back to that state.
I would say you need to find out the real facts and most likely find a new boyfriend

i'm slightly puzzled approximately this posting. in case you flow on petfinder, the rescue basically record 6 animals. Is it in simple terms that the rescue would not have the factors even to record their animals? if so, we could mobilize volunteers to get down there and get photographs. people will foster and undertake, rescues will take dogs, yet we could get photographs. If somebody can try this, start up posting on craiglist, deliver the tale to the media, and action would be taken. Paws Chicago has weekend radio and television spots and can be waiting that may assist you.

I'm with the general consensus here, sorry. Being the mother of two boys who spent a little time in jail for misbehavin, I'm quite sure there is more to this story than meets the eye here. Incidentally, how many id's does this guy have, and why? I don't think you need to help him, I think he needs to help himself. Get out now, while you can.

You can't win this. I got arrested and pepper spray by the cops once. here's the kicker, My hotel room was robbed of my VCR, I complained to loudly at the front desk, cops came in rushed me and took me to jail because I "resisted arrest". I doubt your BF will be sent to Miss. When he gets out, just keep on with your lives.
