I am currently taking Lexapro to deal with my depression. I was prescribe 10mg but I started by taking 5mg, I broke the tablet in half. 5mg was doing okay, but I was trying to meet the strength that my doctor had prescribed. Now I'm taking 10mg and it makes me look a feel a bit angry. Is this the side effects? I did not feel angry when I was on the 5mg, only the 10mg makes me feel this way.

Anyways, do Lexapro make you feel angry?

Like many manic depressives, most antidepressants make me angry, and last I read anyway, it is up for debate if antidepresents can invoke mania in non-bipolars people.

Do you feel like your thoughts are noisy, like multiple ideas rulling through your head at once, arbitrary conversations, multiple songs or random segments of songs looping? Do you get mad at the stupidest things, once I yelled at the computer because AOL said a lambroghinni (sp) was a farrari. Do you feel a driving force to do stuff, like clean, fix things, build or create? Are you driving like maniac (an appropriate bad choice of words, trust me)? Do you daydream about being exceptionally important, intelligent or popular more than normal? Do specific ideas or plans take over your thoughts?

These things are all what I experience with mania, and if you can relate to these things, you might want to discuss these developments with your doctor.

I have recently been prescribed Lexapro, but I haven't started taking it yet. I have dysthymia, so I have no manic episodes like bi-polar or manic depression. I never like taking any medication for depression, but things have gotten so bad during the past year or two that I am starting to think that I might need to try something. I have now had 5 doctors prescribe antidepressants, including my dermatologist (what's up with that???). I haven't been able to find anyone who can tell me anything about their experiences on Lexapro, specifically about side-effects. I have been prescribed 10mg.

What is the most important information I should know about escitalopram?

You should not use this medicine if you also take pimozide, or if you are being treated with methylene blue injection.
Do not use escitalopram if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
Some young people have thoughts about suicide when first taking an antidepressant. Your doctor will need to check your progress at regular visits while you are using vilazodone. Your family or other caregivers should also be alert to changes in your mood or symptoms.
Do not give this medicine to anyone under 12 years.

Tell your physician about how the full mg makes you feel, if the 5mg is helping you just take what your system can handle. With any medication their is always some form of side effects. I take 10mg and my doctor said that I can up the dose to 20mg if I want, it just all depends on you and if the medication is helping, if not tell your doctor.

It can be a side effect. Prozac does that to me. I get a real quick temper on it. Paxil doesnt do that to me. Ask your doc to switch your medicine. And take only as much as you need for it to help you. Dont let your doc make you take more than you need.

All meds affect all people differently. I cant take zoloft because it makes me cry all the time. Great anti depressant huh? But i know someone else it works wonders for.

Welcome to the antidepressant roller coaster.
