Before you start freaking out and telling me to go to pets THIS WAS A KIDS TREAT,.. like Rice Krispies Treats,.. the Kids could help out.

There will probably be many versions because it has been popping up and disappearing for.. I'd say atleast 15 years.

So if anyone has a different recipe for it then one posted then post that one, too. Don't be surprised if I ask this again and again in the next several months.

"Another Puppy Chow Recipe"

1 Twelve oz bag chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
9 cups Rice Chex Cereal
2 cups Powdered Sugar
Put powdered sugar in a large brown bag (such as a grocery bag). Put aside. Spread out rice chex cereal on waxed paper. Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together and pour over the cereal. Put cereal (while still hot from mixture)in bag with sugar and shake. Put in bowl and serve.

Bahama tells us, "WARNING: Only give this to your children when they are going over to Grandma's. It's full of sugar and can produce hyper children!!!"

this is my wacky version of puppy chow...I usually only make it around the holidays.
6 cups crispix cereal
6 cups cheerios
large bag of plain m&m's
1# bag of pretzels (any shape)
2-3 lbs of white chocolate (melted in microwave)
mix up the first 4 ingredients in a large bag
pour part of that mixture in a bowl and add the melted white chocolate enough to coat the pieces in the bowl, toss to coat, take the coated mixture out of bowl and place on aluminum foil that has been sprayed with pam, keep doing this with the rest of the mixture. once it has cooled and the chocolate has hardened break off pieces and store in zip lock bags.

I love puppy chow, just be careful bc there is peanut butter in it and so many kids have peanut allergies today. I always throw some M & M's in mine (add to the bowl when serving).
