Every state has different laws, you need to go to your state website...like I live in Florida so I would go to www.myflorida.com and do a search.

Yes, you can go to your local Community College. You can take the Daycare Providers Course so you can get a license. You'll learn all the rules and laws during the class and have a LICENSE.

The best resource is your local licensing agency (called Childcare Licensing, Human Development Center, etc) that regulates licensed centers in your area. Here's a great book on the subject: Developing and Administering a Child Care Center by Sciarra and Dorsey, or How to Start a Quality Childcare Business in Your Home by Melody Carlson. You can find either on Amazon.com. These are great reference books with lots of good ideas on starting your own childcare center.

To start your daycare you need a few of the following depending on the state you live in.

1. Business License
2. Some kind of classes. They offer these through your local social services office (ie. child abuse or communicable diseases) They can also help your with all you needs.
3. Depending on your state you might need fingerprints, background check and TB tests CPR and first aid.
4. If you are doing it in your home you will need to child proof your house.

Good Luck

I think I can help with this. First go to the site below around the middle of the home page is the link for individual states licensing and regulations. It will require some research. Or if you want to make it easy on yourself try the second link below. This is the best way to go. If you try to do all of this on your own it will take forever or you can use this and have someone elses work.

In our state the county's website has that info. Our last provider was a stay at home mom working to get licensed and she had to work with the county to get her home up to code (baby gates, fire alarms, etc) plus background checks, cpr, etc.
