No, the weather is pretty warm year round, however if you are not from Thailand...be careful where you travel in those cities...especially with your child. I've been to Thailand (military) and there are lots of pervs there! Beautiful place though...

Some tips:
1. Avoid the girlie joints of Pattaya and Bangkok. The girls are over aggressive. Tell your husband.
2. Be able to patiently communicate with the locals in English. They cannot easily understand straight english.
3. Thailand is generally a nice place for tourists. They really take good care of their visitors. But don't be too trusting. Beware of the enterpricing "tuktuk" drivers.
4. If you like spicy food, you will definitely like the place.
5. Enjoy the beach of Phuket.
6. Visit the Royal Palace and the Emerald Temple when in Bangkok. The elephant ride of Ayutthaya is great.

Weather should be fine, no worries about that. To note it's high season period (months of November till April next year, 'peak season' being dates 20/12 till 10/1 traditionally). Book early and most accomodations have high/peak season surcharges, and some places include compulsory dinners! With the 2.5 year old, I'll skip Pattaya. Nothing much for children and what Pattaya has, Bangkok and Phuket have them all and more! Good idea to hop on their local tours - to cover much in a short time. a must see and do -Floating Market, Grand Palace, Emerald Palace (Bangkok), elephant trekking, snorkelling (Phuket). Foreign exchange US1=37 Bahts. Have fun!

Hi, the cool weather is usually from Dec till Feb, so you can expect cool temperature while you are in Bangkok. It can be a bit warmer at Pattaya and Phuket though. How long will you be staying in those places? I will be able to provide a list of places and things to see if you like. My email is tongbn@yahoo.co.uk. For a start, you may want to look at www.tourismthailand.org for the sights available in those places.
You should have a good holiday. Oh, some hotels do provide compulsory new year dinner for guests, so you will need to check on this should you want to be elsewhere during the New Year Party.

The cold season will be over by New Year and it should be well hot in all locations you want to go to. It never gets cold in Thailand, period (but, of course, cold is a relative term).
People will tell you to avoid Pattaya because of the prostitutes but they are in Bangkok and Phuket too. Just depends on where you go in Pattaya. The ladies of the night can easily be avoided if you don't go where they frequent.
Have a good trip. Thailand is a beautiful country and I love living here.

I agree with "Sand" and "Siritus". Just avoid Bangkok with a little child (could be an interesting city but not with small children) and Pattaya for your sake (the "girls" can be very agressive). Phuket or the nearby islands are quite perfect (apart fm Patong) for a family holiday. Inform yourself on the Net about family-friendly hotels or even a nice Bungalow in a small Resort. There is so much to do here and I'm sure you'll have an awsome time.

The weather will be warm, could be raining depends which month you are going. Bangkok and Phuket are great places but Pattaya??? Be more scared for your husband in Pattaya - the girls there are just after the money and they will do anything even on the front of his family.

You should skip Pattaya and spend more time in Phuket, with time to go on a day trip to Phi Phi Island.
If you can, try to go to Chiang Mai too, it has the most beautiful resort I have even seen (The Four Seasons) and also the Elephant Camp, with hundreds of elephants who can dance, play footbool, paint... very fun.

I agree with the others that you should skip Pattaya. It's what you might call 'non-family friendly.' I've been there and that's what I found.
I was in Phucket before the tsunami and I thought that place was fantastic. There is a lot of girlie action there though and it's pretty open, so that's something to consider. Still, a lof of families go there.
You might start thinking about other beaches. I've heard Koh Samui is good, but I've never been there.

If you want a cold weather, let's go to Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Sorn or any province in the north of Thailand. This year at Chiang Mai has special events for the king called "Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006"
