I don't know the frequencies but my husband has a book called police call that lists the numbers. I don't remember which site we ordered it from. I know Radio shack used to carry these books.

Getting frequency information is very dependent on your area.
First, any answer SUGGESTING RADIO SHACK and the Police Call books, is WRONG and OUTDATED.
The Police Call books have NOT BEEN PRODUCED IN OVER A YEAR. They are outdated.

With that out of the way.
Yahoo groups are one of your best resources for active local monitor users in your area:

Next you can look up sources direct from the agency that licenses them. This is not a simple plug in Somewhere PD, Somewhere, WV and get info. You can search by licensee which for police and fire is often the name of the city or town.
See:

The better and much more user friendly searches at:

(Ignore the warning about being outdated, the data from the database you want is being updated.)

It's not a big deal, the police usually don't mind people listening to their channels. Call your local agencies and ask them. They probably won't give you tactical channels but dispatch is available.
