I am not wanting to buy anything illegal in the US, but the price of weapons is far cheaper in other countries, and you can also get some cool former military items.

The red tape to import a fire arm in to the us is a mile long. As for “cool former military items“ you can get them here in the U.S.A.. Some of the less expensive military firearm are the Mosin-Nagants like the 91/30, M-44 and the M-38 {All starting at $100.00 or less}. For the most part the 91/30 and M-44 will be in condition then the M-38. The SKS type rifles can still be had cheep the Yugo 59/66A1 start a $99.98 and go up from there but the good stripper clips for the SKSs are getting very hard to find. M1 Garands can be gotten from the CMP for about $400.00. There are a lot of military and military type firearms the can be found for less the $500.00 and a lot of them for less then $100.00.

Check with a FFL holder in your area.
They might be able to recieve it and do a transfer to you.
Some will do it for a flat fee.
You will also need to pay your states sales tax.
