I was reading up and found that it shows up mostly in males with an onset of symptoms as early as 6 yrs .In girls, the problem could be an underlying inherited malformations in the brain. It can be classified from mild to severe and the extent of the dysplasia can be checked with an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) The MRI will show the exact location and size of the growth. Usually the treatment involves just antiepilectic drugs, and surgery is considered after none of the anti epileptic medications work.
There are currently many clinical trials for various new medicines for the problem. Your family physician is probaly the best person to ask.
