Hi, I'm the producer of 'The Great Outdoors' website - Watch the TV show 7.30pm Mondays on Channel 7. Recently, we had a story on motorhomes. Have you been to any interesting places that would be perfect for a 'Great Aussie Road Trip'? Tell us where we should go and why.

I would also recommend the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, because it has some of the most amazing coastal scenery. There are many nice towns with places to park your motorhome along the way, such as Lorne and Port Campbell.

The best place I've been to recently is the rainforest at Dorrigo National Park, NSW. It was absolutely gorgeous. There's no real reason apart from the fact that it is just a perfect rainforest. When we were there it was cool and foggy and the waterfalls were flowing - amazing. South of Dorrigo is Fredo's Pies, which has won squillions of awards for their gourmet pies - they make over 160 different varieties of meat pie. There are photos of Catriona Rountree in there with the staff so I think the competition might have got there first though! Here's the address anyway
75 Macleay Street, Frederickton, NSW
Open 7 am to 7 pm - 364 days a year
(closed Christmas Day)

The Japanese gardens in Cowra, NSW are really gorgeous too. I guess these are places you already knew about, they're kinda touristy but they're good.

If I had the time, I would do the ring road .... all the way around Australia. Stopping all stops. And exploring each and every avenue.

Australia has some of the most fantastic destinations on earth and they are mostly free!

Great Ocean Road, Across the Nullaboar, Up the Stuart Highway (Explorers Way), Natures Way (Kakadu), Savanah Way (Cairns to Katherine) etc.

Australia is a big place. You may want to narrow your question a bit to either a timeframe or an area of interest.

btw... If you go anti clockwise it is quicker

I like the towns and coastline just north of Brisbane- Gympie, Noosa Heads (though very wealthy and a tad bland, still tranquil) and Hervey Bay with lovely Fraser Island on it's doorstep. I hear from friends that Byron Bay is the best. You should go to NZ, the variance in the scenery in a relatively small distance is lovely.... but I'm a kiwi so I'm biased!

Wow, as you know there are so many!

Town of 1770 was great. Not (yet) a tourist mecca, but still has access to the Great Barrier Reef. Also fantastic campsites right on the beach.

I don't believe you can go past the Flinder's Ranges and stop at Blinman Pub. We stopped on our way to Yulara (Uluru) and the locals made us very welcome. The Ranges are magnicifent I could forward you some photos if you are interested.
