G'day Incongru,
Thank you for your question.
I see your point. However, there is nothing wrong with a guy or anyone else walking through the park. If he was staring or annoying the kids, that is a different matter.
Best wishes to you and your dog from another white middleaged male.
Regards

We take our dog to the park everyday and have seen lots of guys without a dog there, I would never assume they are perverts just for wanting a walk through a park or sitting on a bench watching the world go by or even reading, now if they were hanging round the kids playground and making a nuisance of themselves then that would be a different kettle of fish altogether, guys like to have a walk too and some of them are even lonely and just hope that some kind person might want to pass the few moments of their time having a chat with them, stop worrying about feeling uncomfortable when your not walking your dog, just chill and enjoy your walk.

You are assuming that you know what other park users are thinking. If i saw you i would most likely think you were a walker, like myself, if you had no dog with you. Every day practically i go out walking. I start along a bridle path, but have no horse, but that doesnt worry me! I next walk through a cemetary, but have no grave to visit - again, that doesnt perturb me in the slightest. I then walk along a road that goes to the station. I don't want to catch a train and i don't live in the road. So what?
I think you worry too much.

There are leash guidelines in quite nicely all parts. So legally no, you cant walk her off leash. Its also not secure. notwithstanding if she is a frequently nicely behaved dogs she might want to genuinely see a squirel or cat on the different part of the line and run in the course of the line operating example. i'm getting aggravated with this in my opinion because even as i'm walking my dogs on lead and owners have their dogs off lead in leash parts they enable their dogs go operating as a lot as mine. absolutely one of my dogs loves human beings yet is amazingly dogs aggressive(as through the being attacked by technique of supposedly pleasant off leash dogs), human beings dont stop to imagine about such issues as that. Its the to blame component to do. savor some time on the park yet make certain you've a secure leash on holiday there.

All these people who say they dont worry about single males in park well I will recount what happened to my neighbour he went into the park toilet for a pee, a few seconds behind him two girls around 12 yrs old ran into the toilet, a male tioilet i must add and laughing and messing about bumped him he turned side ways to remonstrate with them and the upshot was that he was charged with indecent exposure, one of the girls was the daughter of the local parson. There was no questions asked as to why the girls were in the males toilet though, pity he did not have a rottweiller

I agree with you. It's the way of our society today. People always think the worst, without knowing the facts - the media are to blame for this as they show us too much of the dark side of human nature - we've come to accept the press stereotypes of what people are doing. Therefore a man walking alone through a wooded area is obviously up to no good, a young lad driving a posh car has obviously stolen it (or is a drug dealer), a young girl waiting on a street corner is obviously a prostitute.
It's a shame, but that's how the media has brainwashed us.

Man you have got to chill out. You are not a Hated Minority. Your more like a average white male with privelage. As a male and living in the city I try to do something to ease peoples minds about who I am. For instance, if it is later at night and I am walking down the street in the city, and a woman approaches me, I always try to give a friendly smile, or a curt, hello how are you with a smile, just to put her conscious at ease. I think woman are just more suseptable to attack and therefor are more aware of their environments. Just be friendly, nice and live your life man!

Perhaps "New Labour" will now Insist that every White Male going for a stroll or a Jog in the Park must be accompanied by a Dog ? .

i've never considered a guy a perv if he's walking with or without a dog, unless he's giving off that perv vibe. i feel uncomfortable walking by myself, or going into a restraunt by myself, it doesnt mean i'm seen as a pervert.
i hate to break it to you, but white middle aged heterosexual protestant males are NOT the minority. they're the majority.
but no, you're not seen as a perv unless you're acting like a pervert.

It sounds more of your problem than other people's. Why would you feel like a pervert? Is it just self-consciousness? Do you view other male park users as either dog walkers or perverts? Has it got anything to do with the fact the avatar of a "White, middle aged, male heterosexual protestant" is a young blonde girl with plaits?
