I'm very prone to allergic reactions, including Anaphylaxis. I've been carrying an Epinephrine (Epi) Pen for a year now. Most of the causes are idiopathic, which gets very frustrating.

I was just wondering if there are any others on here who have Anaphylaxis or are prone to this allergic shock?

I carry an EpiPen as well. So far I have not had to use it... but with every exposure to latex brought on more serious reactions (and I worked in Healthcare - had to quit)... once in the ER with Anaphylactic Shock. Keep it handy and watch the expiration date. Put one in your purse and the other at home.

I am allergic to nuts, bananas, aspirin, codeine and a list of other things. I have carried an epi-pen for years and had to use it several times. I have recently started taking a regular dose of anti-histamine every day such as piriton and so far have not had any more reactions since then (although I have not knowingly been near an allergen!), It might be that but I hope that the anti-histamine is helping as well. Its worth a try and its not going to cause any problems as thousands of people take piriton regularly for hayfever.

I could be the poster child for allergies, but lucky for me none have been urgent.

I would take this question to a site like WebMd. Medical advice from a site like this needs to be viewed with a certain amount of doubt.

WebMd has been around for a long time, they are a reputable site. Also consier calling your local hospital, they often have an "ask a nurse" program, and might run or know of support groups.

Allergies are extreme sensitivity to a particular stimuli, it differs from person to person. It is a very difficult problem from a medical perspective. One can only inform and equip the individual. You need to make everyone around you of this urgent allergy and instruct them what to do if you can not. Too look for your pen etc.
And call 911.

Good luck.

I personally am not, however, my 2 yr. old son is - he's allergic to everything and we are still determining some factors. Seeing that he is so young his allergies can continue to change. We have to ALWAYS carry a Epi Jr. pen for the just in case, fortunately we have not had to use it - good luck.

the Epi pen is good.

My sisters have it to and have the Epi Jr. pen.

Hope all is well!
