i dont think so. nowhere it is clerly mentioned. He was a man ahead of his times. i prefer like krishna, runaway with the girl, take care of her for the rest of life, protect her. to do that you have to be a man.
only fools marry according to traditional method.

The function of marriage is a creation of the society. The decision of a male and female to live together is the actual marriage. That takes place within the mind.
What we see today are the functions developed through ages among each society. Some of them may have developed out of faiths/superstitions or some other needs of the society from experiences.
The true natural way is to get the mind of your lover. That's it.
