I had a dream few weeks before someone warning me that my prayers (Salat) are not pious and my life is going to be short therefore asking me to be more serious in my prayers.I was worried for that time being. I'm a firm muslim interested in gaining more religious knowledge and have tried to make my obligatory prayers more serious since then. Any comments from islamic scholars ???

I AM A CHRISTIAN.
I RESPECT YOUR PRAYERS.
DREAMS ARE A WARNING.
ARE YOU SEEKING MORE OF GOD?
ASK GOD TO OPEN YOUR EYES TO HIS WILL FOR YOUR LIFE.
ASK GOD TO GIVE YOU THE MEANING OF YOUR DREAM.
I PRAY YOU FIND THE ANSWERS YOU SEEK.

I am christian so I am sorry I cannot give you and answer the way Islam would. But in the bible dreams are very important. Remember Joseph and others who interpreted dreams. Seek more of God while He may be found and He will reveal the meaning of your dreams. You said you prayed because it was an obligation but God wants us to come to Him because He is our Father and we have a relationship with Him. We are free to talk to God all day long and at any time. God bless and I hope you will find what you seek.

As far as dreams go, if the dream took place in a dark setting it usually represents a fear you have. So it is a message to you, but nothing more than a message that you are fearing this.

If you are being very serious.. then I would say to you that you need to maybe consider your prayers more like talking with Heavenly Father. Maybe what you are saying is not really working for ya?
Maybe just tell him your heart... instead of repititious prayers....give him what is truly in your heart.
