her eyes shut when she sleeps. I have been cleaning her eyes with warm water so she can open them. What else can I do to help this condition?

Use a warm wash cloth on them until you can get it treated from the vet. Unfortunately, the only thing you can due, is take it to the vet, and eat the cost for the bill snd medicine.
Sorry to hear about your kitty

It nmight be conjunctivitis which is extremely contagious and the other kittens can contract it. Or it could be the start of snuffles. Cleaning the eye is good but make sure that the artificial tears is not too strong for the kitten. The best solution for cleaning the kitten's eye is BOILED water, not tap water. Make sure that you keep some in a jar and mix it with a little salt. If it is not getting better then you should check the rim to see if it is pink. If it is then it is probably conjunctivitis which will need to be treated with Chlorsig which you should be able to get from any chemist. This should be applied to the eye 2 to 3 times a day. Keep bathing the eye. If Chlorsig doesn't work then you will probably need to move to Maxitrol which is steroidal. It takes a long time to clear conjunctivitis in a kitten so be patient.

I have had this happen many times. Kittens will get this condition when they are held too much. Keep up with the warm water washing and you can also apply a small amount of olive oil to his/ her eyelids. The oil will not dry out and will keep they eyes from sealing shut. The good thing is that it isn't serious. It will not ever get it again after you get rid of it the first time. Kinda like the chicken pox.

oh noooo, you need to take the kitten to the vet ASAP, some infections are very serious and the little one could lose sight or worse yet die from the infection spreading to the brain. The lady I got my 4 kittens from had 1 kitten die this way, actually it was one of the ones I chose but it wasn't meant to be. Don't put anything meant for people in the baby's eyes with, better safe than sorry, take her to the vet.

soak a tea bag is warm water . not hot . squeeze out the excess water and gentle rub on her eyes the tea will draw the puss out and loosen and soften the matted eyes . alot of kittens get that . also try to hold the tea bag on her eyes to soften the matted junk so it comes off eassier and hurts less . she might not like it at first . this has worked for me alot of time in the past .

She has an upper respiratory disease. If you like, send me a picture via email and I will do a distance healing. I know it worked on my kitten, but I have her here. I do Reiki. I am level one, but by the end of November I will be a master. Reiki is a natural healing energy available to everyone. It is very very cool. I do mysel every day, and use my plants, my boyfriend and kitty cat for practice. Everyone is blooming! Good luck. My eamail is www.yahoo.com and my name is Dana, oh, and my kitty is named sunshine.

You will probably have to take her to the vet, they have eye medication in a tube that will help, right now I can't think of the name of the medication.....until you can get her to the vet continue with the warm water on a cotton ball.

I have had that very same problem, I asked my vet and she told me that instead of spending a lot of money on the stuff they have in the clinic just go to your local pharmacy and buy some polysporin eye/ear drops. put 1 drop in the eye 3 times / day it will clear up in a day or two it is a really fast recovery. and cheap too! Good luck!

She probably has a rhinovirus and needs to see a vet. I don't think what she has will go away without some medical intervention. Has she had her kitten shots? She may have picked something up from where you got her.
