Yes, I don't know why some people reject Ishmael as a Prophet.

Genesis 20
And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee, behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly,
twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

Verse 21 says that God would establish his covenant with Isaac. This covenant is what is found at Genesis 22:15-18 has to do with God's making Abraham a great nation through whom all the other nations would bless themselves, because the Messiah would come through the line of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Galatians 3:8-9, 16

the question is more like: did he FOLLOW the covenant! i'm not sure i understand ur q. do u mean did they teach him to do the right thing? Abraham & Sarah were spending their lives teaching people about G-d, so there's no way they weren't trying to teach him. And if he lived with such great people, he must have learned tons just by example. But it was his choice how he lived...
