Benadryl is an effective medicine, but when swallowed, it can cause you to fall into a deep sleep. I'm talking about being comatose for a full day or longer. Since you are in the process of moving, it may not be convenient for you at this time.
There is a skin lotion called Caladryl. It is a combination of calamine and benadryl which is applied directly to your skin. Caladryl is used to treat poison ivy or other forms of contact dermatitis. It is availabe without a prescription and can be found at your local pharmacy or Wal-Mart. Good luck with the move.

Are you useing the new place's water?
If you have Hives from Nerves you need to see a Doctor.
The suggestions I saw before I started typeing this are for Allergies. These products being mentioned stop loseing effect if over used so when it really becomes an allergy or your ill from something they won't work as well. I know from experience,.. some retarded doctors had my mom take Benedryle for years,.. I think it stopped being good after constant use for the first couple months.

try Aveno Oatmeal Soaks...a powder you put in the tub and soak in for a while...it helps decrease the itching.
Also, the more you scratch, the more histamines are released (which is what is making you swell and itch in the first place.) So scratching is the worst think you can do.
If your hives don't go away soon, check with a doctor, it could get worse or dangerous. They may be able to help you figure out what to do to stop that.

Do you have chiggers?? I hope not- try benadryl- which is the same as diphenyhydramine- try some relaxation techniques- lay down and close your eyes- think of a calm river flowing by, and your a laying under a cool shade tree, totally relaxed. Take a deep breath into your nose and slowly exhale- repeat 3 times and relax your muscles- Feel better yet? I hope so- D

Hives from allergic reactions (which could be from stress) can be treated with Benadryl.
The spreading of the hives worry me though. Be aware of your airway. If the swelling spreads to your trachea you could suffocate. You should talk to a doctor about this.
Be careful!

are you around pets, or using a diff soap or laundry detergent. it happened to me before. i had a rash and developed hives in my stomach and body. i was so scared, later i found out it was the kitty litter that made me break out with allergies. i had to take benadryl, it worked real fast within a week my skin was good as new.

you can try anti-histamine drugs, such as benadryl. it seems to work for most people, but if you're resistant to drugs, such as i am, you might want to go to your allergist or doctor for something stronger. i was perscribed atarax when i got hives. i believe my hives were caused by stress.
