What's interesting about the human mind is that it achieves what it perceives. You usually procrastinate a task that is tedious, loathsome, or difficult. You brain is wired into a mentality where you you don't think you'll be able to complete or perfect this task. So it's really an internal battle and you've already failed because you couldn't perceive finishing this task. It's hard to explain but there are tricks to help you beat procrastination as they have helped me.
Approach a task a small step at a time. For example, if you have to do your homework. The first step is to clear your desk and create an environment suitible for studying. Tell yourself that the next thing you're going to do is to lay your books, notes, etc on your desk. (But don't tell yourself that you're actually going to get started). Now you have already won half of the battle. Next thing you need to do is to tell yourself that you're just going to dedicate exactly 5 minutes on your homework and you can time yourself. After this 5 minutes, you have already won the battle and you should have picked up the momentum on completing this task.
Believe in yourself. Your thoughts create anything you want to happen. The universe doesn't exist without your thoughts.

Get a good night sleep to start off your day right. Take a shower everymorning to get you going. Look in the mirror & say I am ready to take on the day. Get yourself a cup of coffee or tea, eat a healthy breakfast. Your body needs fuel to produce the energy you need to complete your tasks for the day. Make out a list of the items you want to get done that day, prioritize! Decide what you want to get done in the morning & what can you do in the afternoon. Don't over load yourself in one day. If you can make out a schedule for a week. Cross off each item you complete. You could also deligate. What ever the task might be, find kids in your neighborhood to help out, like take out the garbage, walk the dog, rake the leaves, clean your car, help bring in the groceries. Pay them a dollar. Then comes the weekend.........enjoy yourself! Talk about what you have accomplished with friends and family. It will make you feel much better about yourself. Remember this.......Don't procrastinate. You don't know if tomorrow will come. Good luck.....P.S. I have insomnia! Can't sleep & working on that problem...Good night lol.

Get off Yahoo answers and just do whatever it is you are procrastinating right this moment...
Sometimes just asking questions such as How do I quit procrastinating, is procrastinating.

i think the best way would be to write down your daily activities. that way you could see exactly what you spend your time doing. once you do that you'll realize how much time you waste and that should help you realize that you can use that time for more productive things. plus, if you get any really good answers i'd like to hear them.

You need to reward yourself.
Right, if I get this task done NOW, that gives me enough time to do this other thing which I really enjoy.
Try it!
