First of all, your weight is good for your height! Losing 10 kgs would make you look skinny and unhealthy. Don't let your MIL dictate what you should look like. Then, if the doctor feels that you have less blood, you should be eating healthy food and not think of diet. Eat well, sleep well, and do some moderate walking to tone up your body. Your height and weight are determined by your genes and they don't change just because your MIL feels so.
I cant' imagine what's with Indian Mothers-in-law.

Don't worry sweet heart, you're fine as you are. Good Luck

I am very sad to hear this fixed marriage. And that you have a mother-in-law running your life. I hate that.
55kgs is about 115 lbs.
Just cut the bad fat out of your diet and any sugars and walk a lot and you should do well. Oh, and drink plenty of water. Take vitamins and minerals.
Eat more fish and vegetables, spinach, green leafy to help build up your blood. Eat plenty of fiber as well.

If you have to loose weight without any harm...GO SWIMMING !!

This is a very fast and safe way to loose weight...Your body doesn't keep loosing weight...but it makes your weight JUST PERFECT. It keeps the amount of fat it needs and you loose the rest.

In short, swimming gives you the perfect figure !!

Drink hot water everyday.Make it a habit.First few days it would be difficult to keep drinking hot water all the time but its a matter of time. Hot water tends to melt the fat in your body, thus bringing it to the perfect shape. Avoid Potato, Sabudana and deep fried stuff.

So then in just a few months you should be in your ideal weight limits

ur the right size for ur height. unless u have a large bust or bum:maybe that's what's confusing ur mum in law into thinking u need to lose weight. That's genes. If a qualified doctor says ur the right size the doctor's right. Which medical institution did ur mother in law go to by the way ha ha ha

I say the heck with what your mother-in-law wants. You're not marrying her.

Just tell her what the doctor said. If she can't live with you being 55 kg that's her problem. I wonder how much the mother-in-law weighs? Maybe you can tell her you'll lose the 10 kg (too much in my opinion) if she does.

well, well so th mother in law is already ordering you about?!

but seriously, you do seem overweight. let go of meaty stuff, and go veggie. drink a lot of water and flush out the toxins. dont ever crash diet. it s bad for the health. just avoid oily and fatty stuff like the plague, and eat a lot of fruits !! all the best on your new married life

You are absolutely fine. Don't loose weight just to please your mother in law. She should accept you as you are.
Exercise (aerobic like long brisk walks, jogging, swimming), eat nourishing food, sleep well, feel good and keep fit.

Your proportions seem just about right. You should consult your doctor about dieting and follow his advice.
