Passport get you back into your country, Visa, get you into their country, though most countries want to see a passport also, that way they know you have a home to go back to.

Someone said that 86% of Americans do not own a passport! My friend, if you want to leave the USA, you need a passport (or in the case of Iraq, just take along the US Marine Corps) You will need a passport to leave the USA and you will sure as hell need one to get back in. For Egypt, you will also need a VISA. This is a special permission, which you have to get for some countries. Think of it like this, you go and visit a friend. You can just turn up because you know him or her - the "just knowing" bit is your passport. Another friend says "You can visit me but I want you to call me first so I can make sure everything is OK" - that's a bit like the friend that needs a Passport AND a VISA. Now, this all takes time and takes as long as it takes. Get the passport first and then you can set about getting the visa but allow plenty of time.

Yes you need a passport to go overseas. In West Virginia the best place to go to get an application is at the Post Office. You will also need a picture to put on the passport. The Wal-Marts that have photo studios in them will do passport photos. Have fun and just make sure you get your application in early, sometimes it takes a while to get it back!

i think that you can go to your local post office andget an application. be certain to not sign it untill you are infront of a notarty public, they have to witness you sign it. or you can look up the number in your local phone book to find an office that has the applications. it takes about 6-8 weeks, but may take longer now that all u.s. citizens are requird to have a passport to return from mexico and canada. allow extra time...up to 4 months they say now

You can get it at the Post Office or county clerk's office (here's the list of WVA places)

And here's what you'll need:
