I'll throw the BS flag on this one right now.
.45 BAC at 17 and drinking the next day to get rid of the hangover?
1 - You wouldn't be out of the hospital that fast. Once they detoxed you, they would send you to the mental ward for a lengthy evaluation.
2 - They don't detox you with "pills"
3 - Last but not least. You'd probably be dead. I know some alcoholics who have been drinking hard for over 30 years that would have to go on life support at a BAC of .35
No way a 17 yo punk got up to .45 and lived to tell about it - not without some SERIOUS life support and severe brain damage as a result.
Brag about something else.

you have to learn how to drink more responsibly. there is a reason why the drinking age is 21 in the United States... by the way, .45 is really high. you could have died. so, they do care & you should too. unfortunately, some people have to learn for themselves...

Heck no, mine would lock me out of the house, and it was cold and raining outside. Good thing we had a Big House for the Dog. ;-)

No, they are not over reacting. With that attitude, you could easily be the killer of innocent people behind the wheel.
