Please check what she's eating before she goes to bed. Usually when people have nightmares and I ask them what they ate just before bedtime, the answer is mostly always 'cheese'. Cheese causes some kind of chemical reaction on the brain. There are other foods that can cause this though. Try and find out, and get her not to eat it before bedtime.

Dreams are one way your mind works through problems. Waking up screaming is not normal. Most likely your nana has some problem that she does not know how to deal with. I think she should seek professional help- either medical or with a priest or pastor. Most likely nana knows what the problem is, she just does not know the solution.

Also i usually eat dinner late at night and snake before bed sometimes... Ive been told i scream, cry, punch the air in my sleep... When i wake up i am a lil scared but so used to it...

It could be something is bothering her. Or it could be medication she is on. Tell her it scares you and you are worried and ask her to see her doctor about it.
