I turned 21 last March. Since then, I've done a decent amount of drinking. While I've never been terribly drunk, I do enjoy social drinking. I can tell pretty well by feel how intoxicated I am and how in control of myself I am (my opinions in retrospect tend to match my previous opinions of my state in the moment). However, here's my problem. In New Jersey, a DWI charge goes for a BAL of 0.08 or greater. I have no idea how drunk this is; for all I know it could be more than twice as drunk as I've ever been, or half as much. I know that if I get pulled over with a BAL of 0.08 or more, the "I felt fine" excuse won't fly in court. Aside from my own judgement call about how capable of driving I feel I am, how can I authoritatively tell whether my BAL is legal or not before getting behind the wheel?

0.08 is not much at all its about 1.5 beers its the same here in maryland and the liver flushes out about a beer an hour so if you have 6 beers dont drive till 6 hours from when you start drinking

You are never safe to drive after drinking any amount of alcohol as it impairs your ability to react to situations. How much you drink and how much you weigh will determine how much it impairs your ability but in the end, isn't ANY amount of impairment to much when the lives of others are at stake?

That aside, Wikipedia has a great article on this issue. Here is what they say on the issue but do keep in mind how much you drink (your tolerance) and how much you weigh and what you have eaten that day also play a role in determining these numbers.

1 drink = 0.02-.03%
5 drinks = .15-.20%

If you are worried about passing a breathalizer test, don't drink more than one glass of wine, more than one beer, or more than one mixed drink (and the kinds with multiple shots count as multiple drinks)!

It doesn't matter how you feel, you won't pass a test and you'll get cuffed and hauled off to jail. Not fun. Expensive. Humiliating. (Just to name a few.)

If you are going to drink, either take a taxi home, or go out to party with a designated driver. That is the very best advice you can get.

Be smart. Be safe.

First it depends on your body weight, 1 beer will register higher in a person who weighs 110 lbs opposed to someone who weighs 210lbs. Second most importantly nobody should drink and drive, not only for the sake of everyone on the road, but for themselves. There are too many shady cops out there that could F up your life. Seen it happen.

Gas stations and drive ins sell things that allow you to test your BAC at least to check if you are over the limit. Most people can't have more than two drinks in an hour. It depends on your size and how much you ate before you drank. All i know is .08 is not very much and you are better safe than sorry with DD

It is better to avoid driving after drinking. You might get away with one or even two drinks without being impaired, but if you have an accident--even if it isn't your fault--you could find yourself facing charges if your blood alcohol is over a certain level.

You should also be aware that your ability to judge your level of intoxication is every bit as impaired as your ability to drive.

It's pretty easy to know when you have had way too much to drink, but much harder to know when you have had one too many.

Best advice is don't drive--period--after drinking. Find a non-drinking driving friend and let them get you home.

First off, it is NEVER safe to drink and drive take it from someone who knows! You think that having just one drink is fine but the consequences will forever change your life. As it has mine. I am a 25 years with no parents thanks to a man that had only one drink. I lost my parents when I was 7 and had been bounced around from family member to family member.

he's they're justifiable. ingesting is stupid. undeniable stupid. Do you comprehend that what befell, is quite the LEAST of the undesirable issues that can ensue. What in case you had dies from alcohol poisoning? What in case you have been taken benefit of you and robbed you? it could have been basically this one time, yet for a lot of people, the 1st time became the final time for them.

The test is not based on how 'drunk' you are, but your blood alcohol content, which doesn't have to be very high to get you in trouble. You think you can judge how intoxicated you are, but with Ashil your judgment is usually the first casualty.
