you are still growing! so you eyesight will adjust to this. believe me you are not going over -4.00 by the time you are 40. you are degrading very slow. But try not to overstress your eyes by wearing not the right prescription, stress, and many more things.
Wear sunglasses when outdoors. Don't worry to much of becoming blind just enjoy every day you can see.

No there is nothing to slow down the increasing prescription. It is normal as you grow that your eyes become more near-sighted. this slows down in your mid 20's and doesn't change much till about 40. Legally blind is a person that can't see 20/200 or has a sever peripheral field restriction with the best prescription of contacts or glasses.

Eyes change as we get older. I started wearing glasses when I was 9. Without my glasses, I'm around 20/400 or so. Quite bad. What;s strange is that my vision with my glasses has gotten better over the years. Now, with my glasses, it's about 20/13.
Year to year it changes. Overall, the uncorrected vision has gotten worse, but it's not hard to correct.
Talk to your opthamologist. He or she might have some exercises and such. I don't think that it's likely you'll go blind, but your prescription may change over time. That's normal.

No there is nothing you can do and I am legally blind but I can see perfectly with contact lenses - 8.25 is my Rx. I was wearing glasses at age 5. So dont sweat-- you can probably get lasik on both of your eyes and have 20/20.

DO **** NOT **** GET SURGERY.
TV commercials do NOT tell you all the potential complications and the problems that come up afterwards.
There is even an ophthalmologic specialty--Doctors who specialize *only* in fixing the problems that lasix causes.
Do see an ophtholmologist (not an optometrist) though to see if there is any problem. This matter is too serious for Yahoo Answers.

I started wearing contacts at 18 and for years my eyesight constantly changed...I was seriously thinking I'd be wearing cokebottles but they eventually levelled out. I even kept a record I was so freaked...
1987 - 1.75 vision
1989 - 2.75
1991 - 3.25
1993 - 3.5
1999 - 3.75
You can't do anything to stop this (trust me, I researched this) but I really think your eyes will level out like mine did.

there are these contacts that correct your vision. you put them on at night and sleep with them and in the morning you take them off. if you keep doing that your eye site will become very accurate
