I have been in a long distance relationship for 3 1/2 months with a man that I really have fallen in love with. I live in central Florida and he lives in New Orleans. Should we actually be together if I decide to be the first one to say "I love you" or is over the phone OK? With the distance between us it is hard to get together often. We talk at least twice a day and say "I miss you" in such a way that could almost be translated to "I love you" when we end our conversations. I should also add that we talk about our future together so I know that he he thinking of me as a future life partner/spouse. He is wonderful and treats me with respect.

We have spent two wonderful entire weekends together. So we do spend time together just not as much as we would like.

I'm a divorced father. I wish you the best. Let him say it first, whether over the phone, on paper, or email. Hold your heart close. Please.

Are you really IN LOVE with him or the idea of him? Often time people in similar situations as your own find they love the idea of being in love but when they actually form a real relationship with the person (living with them) things aren't so rosey.

After 3 1/2 months of dating, how often have you two really been together (in person)? You know the saying "talk is cheap" and that couldn't be more true in a situation like this. Speaking from first hand experience, you don't truly get to know someone until you are with them every single day.

Anyway I'm getting off topic. Should you say I love you over the phone? I say no way no how.

I don't think it matters as long as u really mean it, I'm in a long distance realtionship and the first time I told my bf that I loved him it was over the phone because I couldn't wait (I was also the first one to say it) yes it would have been nice to tell him in person but if I waited for that I would have been waiting a long time, I think u just need to do what u feel is right for u, I hope this helps good Luck.

In person sounds romantic, but why wait? It still means the same thing and the sooner the better.

well everyone thinks it seems more meaningful in person, but there really isnt a time, when you feel it,it just comes out no matter what or where youre at.I was the first to tell my present bf "I love you" over the phone,i just couldn't wait.

Yes, in person! Makes it so much more special and meaningful.

Plus the looking into each other's eyes and the fireworks :)
