Like I remember learning about this, I person goes into stages before they actually commit suicide. They first ponder the idea, you know, explore it objectively. Ect ect. What are they? I cant seem to remember.

I had a friend that planned out his suicide... He worked a lot just so he could buy a brand new car to drive to his "plan"... He reserved a hotel room a couple citys away... He told his mother he was going to this city with friends to go see a play and they would be staying there for the night. He went to the hotel by himself... he lied about the friends... He couldnt get the actual room he reserved at that time, which was the 40th floor... So he waited 2 hours to get it... He then called his mom to tell her her got there and was okay... Then he lit candles all around the room and put his lisence in his back pocket... put his dads watch on and jumped. No drugs or alcohol were found in his blood stream. Crazy! He had that whole thing planned for maybe years... months? I dont really know.

Well, it depends on the person and if they have any other mental things going on like bipolar 2, for instance. Coz they could totally just decide without having previous warning signs. Also depends on if they are an adult yet or not.

Here's a website with some things to look for:

I'd like to say I know from experience some will look much better than they have in a while or seem especially perky or pleasant. They will seem unconcerned with things you think they should be, like unfinished work. Someone who's just thinking about it (very seriously) might have time unaccounted for as to where they were, and they might have spent some alone time thinking how to do it or if they would, like down by a river or bridge or something, but they'll lie and say they went on a walk to lose weight or something, but you'll think it's a little off if you know they don't spend that long doing it usually. They'll be kinda spacy or flaky at times too, more irritable other times.

That sometimes isn't entirely true. Most people who will commit suicide usually don't tell anyone about it, and actually doing it is usually because of a deep depression and pain that you might have experienced. People who are going to are generally anti-social, but some might come out to someone else for a last chance of getting sympathy.

Suicide is a very grim subject.

I dont think anyone truely loses the desire to live otherwise they would simply stop breathing and die, I mean if you dont want to live, why do you keep on breathing. Which is why they have to seemingly force themselves to die. And for everyones answers so far, I think hes talking about what is the "cycle" of suicide. I mean the psychological stages, I mean like there is winter, spring, summer and fall and there are reasons for those seasons, I think he wants to know the reasons as well not JUST the stages. He also I think he wants to know the signs, changes in behaviors and such, also the changes in their thought process. I know what hes talking about because I learned them as well but like him I cant remember it exactly, like I learned it in health class and we like watched a video of some **** where they study the minds of suicidal people and reasons behind and and what not. Anyway, good luck coolsteevo. =)

I don't think there are stages before suicide...I mean planning yea, but the reason you are asking this question is what matters. Do you think someone is planning on suicide, or are you yourself worried about commiting suicide? There's always help.

In 30 years of Psychiatric Nursing, I have never heard of "stages of suicide"! There are no "stages of murder", either! Sure, there is a thought process...MOST of the time. Sometimes, not so much thought is put into it...that's called "impulsive". That's what I know about it...and most of it is tragic!

Depression, talking about suicide, giving their things away that they normally would not part with, buying a gun, pills, etc.. I know, my husband committed suicide and that is how it happened.
