Think about it like this: If your child (supposing you have one) did somthing very nice for you, would you feel happier to learn that somone forced him/her to do it? Wouldn't you rather your child do somthing nice because they genuinely love you and want to make you happy?
God is the same way. He wants us to choose to serve him of our own free will, because we have gotten to know him and love him. He dosen't want us to do it cuz we HAVE to, but because we want to. Not everyone wants to, and that is their choice to make. He knows how mankind will turn out in the end because he will manuver things, in order to accomplish his purpose. He gives you the choice to be part of that future, or not to be.

I don't see the picture as us having the ability to choose God, given our sinful condition. The world doesn't want to be saved, if you haven't noticed. It takes a loving God to rescue a world enslaved by sin, and God takes the appropriate action that allows us to enter into a relationship with Him. We don't have free will, and that assumption allows God to know how we are going to turn out in the end without any contradiction.

It is an interesting game created by God and we all play using "free will". Some get lost and very few get home after spending some time in the game.
Home: To become one with God by winning the game
Lost:: Using "free will" in excess without realizing rules of the game thus loosing the game

As a mercy to us so that he can show the good from the bad and show favor to the good. Because he is most just, he is giving you an equal term so you won't have an excuse and feel
unjustly treated. Its a mercy to you.
Like when a teacher knows a student will fail, but gives him the
Finale anyway. If she didn't, she wouldn't be just would she? And in turn like a student who makes all A's being told he will no longer receive a report card, he can't reap the good he produced

God is a concept created by man.
The fact is that man has 'free will' - man is able to do infinite kinds of works. This trait is different from animals - who live by instinct, and their conduct is definite based on their race. Human being's free-will hasn't become satisfied - so his conduct is uncertain. However, every human desires certainity in his own conduct, and desires certainity in the conduct with all his interfaces or relations. This desire doesn't get fulfilled without and Because man dounderstanding and experiencing the existence as it is. To arrive at the understanding - man does experimentation using his free-will as a tool. He fails everytime. And tries again afresh. All the systems, religions, inventions etc are results of human's free-will and imagination.
The free-will and imagination in man gets fulfilled with his understanding and experiencing existence. With this his conduct becomes certain. With this he realizes harmony at all levels of his living. The free-will then gets channelized in realizing the human-order.

THANKYOU. This si the main question I asked when people tried to indoctrinate my into the christian faith. I asked the preacher and he said God cant choose for you, but he can influence situations. But still that doesnt make sense. Situtations happens because of actions, actions come from people and those people CHOOSE that action. What it basically comes down to is that, atleast what I've come to discover in a long journey of truth seeking, is that there is no superficial God sitting on a cloud judging your every move who created the universe. However there is a power so great that did create the universe but it is not outside of us, it is within is, infact...it is us. Scriptually we could say we are the likeness and image of God, we could say that we are another way the universe is becoming conscious of itself...both of those would be true. We do have free will...you decide your own fate, you came to Earth for the intensisty of exsitence and for growth.

God gives us free will because he wants us to worship him only if we want to and only if we love him. God knows the hearts of each one of us and he will draw close to each of us who are drawing close to him. He is being patient with us because he doesn't want any one to miss the opportunity to come to him. However, he will not wait forever. It is up to us what we will chose to do. Either to be for him or against him. There is no neutral ground. As for him knowing how we are going to turn out in the end, he is giving us time to turn to him, those of us who haven't yet and who will...then the end will come for the others...and the end of this system of things for us.

The bible teaches that God gave us free will and the reason why he gave us free will is to see if we would follow his will. Popular "Chritsianity" of today teaches that all we have to do is believe Jesus died for our sins and thats it but the bible teaches that faith without works is dead. In other words God gave us free will to see what we would do with it! the bible says choose ye life or choose ye death and it also says we shall be judged by our works or in other words what we do and say. God does not want and did not create people to be robots but gave us our free will so we could iether choose Him or choose death and each and every person will be judged according to the choices he makes.

Supposedly that is believing in predestination. According to The Roman Catholic Faith this is heresy. God is all knowing or Omniscience. This means he knows what's going on everywhere and when it is happening and allows humans to choose their own path. He may send us grace that will help us make our decisions. if we pray for it or someone prays for us.He really doesn't know what the future holds for humans until it actually happens. ( I'm not 100% sure of this theory) Thus, they have free will.
Check in with the actual Vatican website. Seach "free wil"l and / or "omnipotence" or "omniscience"

Becaue He will reward who pass the test and punish those who fail! The biggest sin which He promised not to forgive is Shirk or taking partners with him and making others god. Ohers He may forgive. For great details please read Quran which is the final
edition of all divine books and hence protected letter by letter and word by word for last 1450 years (Humanly impossible to do so) in its original language and today as fresh as on day1 and with no contradiction with science!.
