Walking around and getting people to smile, don't think it would cost them anything ? Last time I checked, you don't have to pay to smile (last time I checked). Especially in the tube. That place is grimy. We need SMILES !!!

Lol. Not saying you have to smile to everyone (you would look stupid), but smile more. Do you reckon that as Londoners, starting from tomorrow, you can do that yourself ?It'd be nice if ppl started smiling more, starting by ourselves (and yes, I do smile before someone asks). :-)

I asked a question about this ages ago, cos when I go out jogging I smile at other joggers with the idea of getting some solidarity going on. People look at me with fear and horror in their eyes. I love London, but in English culture generally I think we're way too suspicious of strangers, and London is the epitome of that unfriendliness. In Latin America you just sit down on a bus next to someone and they invite you to their house, when was the last time that happened to you in London?

'I smile all the time even if I am not well or if I don't feel happy.I had a serious accident and when the doctor examined me and asked where it hurt I smiled at him and told him then he said "You are smiling!" I replied...."Yes, I know. I always do!" Maybe he thought I was a bit crazy ( would have been right anyway!!! :=).
Everyone remarks on my smile and says its beautiful. I hope they aren't puling my leg!!!
yes....smile and pass on that smile for someone needs it. That has been my motto for years and is in my profile. Remember one thing.....Smile and the world smiles with you. Cry and you cry alone!!!!!

When I was on holiday in England, I thought the whole country (the parts I saw anyhow, including the tube) was generally cheery. Bump into someone on accident and it was "Cheers!" everytime. The roundabouts were a different story, no kindness there!

Getting bombed all the time can tend to make people gloomy. Then theres the weather. And being the CO in coalition forces had got to suck right about now too.

I totally agree with you, (thumbs up) it is infectious when we smile, think about it you exercise so many muscles in your face from a simple smile.

Strange though people look at you as if you stole their last penny, others smile back.

To me a smile emanates friendliness, what with what's going on in world a simple smile makes one feel good when it is returned...CHEERS :-)
