Just wondering. We seem to have such a lot of artificially created, unnecessary wars around us. Is it just a way of subduing internal strife for some countries? Argentina did this with the Falkland War - starting it detracted the population from its internal problems. Could it be that this is the true reason for the campaigns we see launched by some countries all the time? Does anyone know where to find any research on this?
Thanks.

In 1962, the president of the US fired on of his whitehouse or pentagon staff exactly for suggesting to do such a thing.

What make you so sure that these 'internal' strife and problems weren't created by an outside threat?

And also remember that Argentina might not have involved itself in the Falkland War due to self interest, there might have been outside forces controlling it. There are a lot of strange actions done by some countries that doesn't seem beneficial at all for those countries.

As for any research.

A research based on books and other kind of records are pretty much almost useless, since they can be easily manipulated.

I suggest you ask the people who are alive during the time, the common people (including such people as infantrymen) are the best source.

As for the campaigns we see launched by some countries all the time.

My opinion? Just an attempt to make the human race fight each other. Not for resources. Not to hide problems. Not for freedom. Not due ego. Etc.

It's just an attempt to make the human race fight each other.

To answer by generalizing..Yes External threats actually alleviates internal issues. Afghanistan is a prime example, when the Russians invaded, all the pashtuns, tajiks and everyonje rallied together to oust them.
Pakistan continues to accept this as a state policy. It refers to animosity with India as a way to escape the seccessionist forces within.
No links to validate though..I am just well read ;)
