I've asked this question before...but I wish to re-phrase it. Thanks for your tolerance if you are reading it again. (I hope the spelling is correct this time).

Hi..

The word prophet means a "seer". So a person who sees what is going on at a deep level is a prophet. Traditionally, the word "prophet" has come to mean " one who foresees future events". A prophet gets his visions by performing "austerities" while a psychic uses forms such as cards, (tarot, runes, etc) or tea leaves, coins (I-ching), etc...The psychic does not necessaritly predict the future but some claim to see past events. Psychics access the "subconscious" and some psychics called "mediums" get their messages from other characters dead or living on different dimensions or different planet. They sometimes use automatic writing, or trances, or sceances, etc..

Prophets have a more "religious" connotation while psychics have a "new age" flavour attached to them by the "uneducated" masses.

They basically perform the same job. To see deeper than the waking "consciousness".

It all depends on where the information is coming from. Not all "psychics" claim their abilities are supernatural. Some have turned cold reading into a highly developed skill which they can use to help people understand themselves better. Other psychics may also be doing this but suggest supernaturalism for effect or even because that's how they perceive their abilities. Some psychics, of course, are complete frauds or charlatans. The greatest psychic in all of literature was Sherlock Holmes, in my opinion. Would his abilities have been any less impressive had he *described* them as psychic rather than empirical? He was surely accused of having mystical powers. The line drawn would be what the source actually is as opposed to what they claim the source would be. If it is really internal or "otherworldly" then prophesy is merely an ego trip regardless of accuracy. If it is really observational, then it might be something useful, regardless of accuracy.

Prophecy are God's messages delivered through people He has appointed and they tell people things about their lives usually giving them hope and a sense of direction!! Prophets usually don't know the individuals and aren't doing anything for show or for the person's liking!

Psychics usually tell a person what they want to hear and sometimes holds no truth!! Psychics receive payment for their duties and usually tell the person the same thing that the person has told them!!

Psychics often use things like astrology, tarot, crystals, guides and other means to predict the future. Sometimes they manage to get it right, more often, they do not. Oh, some ASPECTS may be right, but the entire prediction rarely is. This is almost always for personal advancement, publicity or financial gain.

A prophet must first speak to the local events of his day, as it concerns the will of God. If those are accurate, only then may they prophesy about the future, as it concerns the will of God. Their words are revelations from God. They do not speak to provide financial gain to anyone.

Prophecy is not just telling the future. Prophecy is about delivering a message from God to the people, and the message CAN be about the future, but it is very often about the present, or even the past.

A to Z LIST

A part of our human condition is to both look within in our attempts to know ourselves and to look outwards in order to know our futures. From eons of studying nature and the world around us we have devised rituals and procedures with which to meet the unknown.

Arts of divination or extra sensory perceptions are diverse, numerous, ancient and new. My ‘A to Z’ list of psychic abilities is an on going project. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/list-of-psychic-abilities.html

I have no problem with either your spelling or with the question itself. They are not the same thing -- there are alleged to be various powers that could be considered to be psychic -- but the inability to conduct controlled experiments adversely affects their utility.

Your spelling is fine.
Your syntax is incorrect.

"...being a prophet and being a psychic?" is correct.

But, Mr. Hate is correct.

Prophecy comes from God.
Psychic forcasting comes from Satan.
