There's so many factors to think of with that.
~The location you are getting it, different places, different degrees of pain.
~How big it is and how colorful
~Who is doing it, some go deeper than others
I have scottish thistle going up my out left calf from my ankle to my knee and that one hurt like hell, single needle, six hours in the chair and it's almost solid Jade Green. The other one i have is a Koi on my upper right arm and it took about three hours and i almost fell asleep during it. I find them rather meditative. :) Getting my ears stretched still hurt way more than any tat.

Just depends on yout tolerance of pain. for me it was like little pink picks but I actually enjoy the art of tattooing so it doesn't bother me as much as some. What does hurt if they do the outline and then go back to fill in and end up going over where they had just been. It is over before you know it. since what you are wanting is on the small side, you should have no probelm!

Yes its gonna hurt. Needles piercing your body usually does hurt. And its not just one needle, one time. Its multiple needles{for the color,} and they're moving in and out. And they go over the same spot it seems 50 times. Its not excruciating pain, its kinda like little pinches. You know when you barely get any skin, but it hurts alot...leaves bruises....like that. And on your waist...oh boy.... I've got three tats..One on my right breast. my left wrist {bracelet} and one on my ankle. The one on my ankle hurt the worst by far. I'd rather get a tatoo than my belly-button pierced again....I thought that was agony. II don't want to scare you, but a little pain has got to be expected ok. Good-luck

Depends where it is and what your pain thresh hold is.
I got a small one on my shoulder blade and fell asleep during it. They say if the area has more fat in it, the less it will hurt. (hey! so there IS a plus to having a bit of fat!)
Ask your tattoo artist if the place you are getting it can be stretched out of shape if you gain/lose weight. The tattoo will pretty much be forever so you dont want it to look weird if something happens.

The pain is not bad at all (unless you're talking about the top of your foot... that one hurts like a beeeyotch!) I compare it to a sunburn. Imagine you have a sunburn, and you forget and scratch it. It's not very pleasant, but really not bad at all. I highly recommend it (and I'm not very good with pain, but I have 6 tats and will be getting more)

Different parts of the body have different levels of tolerance. Getting my tattoo on my shoulder didn't hurt at all. But I would say that a tattoo near your waist will be sensitive. Good Luck!

yeah it hurts at first but the pain fades as it go on. Or you can put some novacaine on the area a couple of hours before you get your tat

i got a medium sized tat and it didn't hurt at all you'll be able to handle it. I thought it was gonna hurt but if I knew before hand that it actually didn't hurt I would have gotten a bigger one. Once your adrenaline starts pumping and you get all shaky you'll be fine and once the needle hits your body you'll be like is that it omg that didn't hurt at all.

Depends where you get it!! I'm one of those people really scared of pain.. but I just had to get one!!
I got one on my side.. like lower stomach area.. and honestly.. it just felt like a pen was being dragged across. That area on me is a fatty area and it didnt bother me. I was having a full conversation and it wasnt bothersome at all.
I figured the next one wouldnt hurt since that one didnt.. i was crying. I got it on my shoulder.. where the bone area is.. i could barely take it!

it will hurt... i have 10 of them so far... and you are picking a very sensitive area of your body... for me they hurt for about the first 5 minutes them remain somewhat bothersome for the rest of the time...there are parts of the skin the needle goes over that hurt more than others... but then again I have some that didnt hurt much at all...
