I found a website for a company that ships absinth, real absinth, and contacted them over the phone. They swear it's legal to have it for personal consumption, but not to make or serve it. Does anyone know how true that is? And please, all of the judgemental jerks that feel the need to lecture for two points, save it for your imaginary circle of friends. I just want serious, intelligent replies. Thank you in advance.

I was just reading about this, go to the Green Fairy website. They talk about it there. From what i read, you can have it shipped here legally, you just cannot make it here. *finding that blurb about it*
First.. an informative link http://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.cgi?ID=2693

*cut and paste from greenfairy.org*
Item 4 states the following:
"It is not illegal to purchase thujone containing
absinthe for personal use from outside the United
States."

So enjoy your drink. ;)

1) I would suggest searching for reviews of the absinthe (that it is spelled absinth already makes it questionable) there are many sites that claim to have "real absinth" but you are just wasting your money.

2) Yes, no, maybe. It is not Illegal in the sense of a controlled substance and is thus not illegal to own but it is against customs regulations to import, which means if found they will confiscate it.

3) Read the wikipedia link in source, and visit the links at the bottom of its page.

No, what they are pushing is a different Absynth. Kind of like 3.2 beer. If you live in NY, just drive over the border and get some. If not, make friends online with someone overseas and offer a good trade for some US product they want. Everyone needs to try it for themselves but you will learn as I did, It sucks. And it's just liquor like anything else. I just tastes really bad. I hate to say it but if you are already looking to break the law then do yourself a favor and find a good drug. It will do a better job and won't make you throw up on your first taste.

I've heard it's perfectly legal to posses absinth. You can't buy or sell it in the states, but you can have it here. It's not an "illegal substance".

no, it's not legal and I would imagine there would probably be some jail time plus a huge fine if someone was stupid enough to have it sent...especially now with all the extra screening....it's not like the old days where you could just pop something into your bag or send it through the mail....
