Full of blue collar workers?

Come on now. Arkansas is not only home to Walmart but also to Tyson Chicken, Alltel Communications, and several other large businesses. Cingular has a huge operation in Little Rock. Nuvell Credit Corporation is based in Little Rock.

True there are several large corporations that base their factories here because Arkansas labor cost is second only to illegal immigrant labor cost. But there are still a large number of white collar professionals. We have several universities and some of the best research hospitals in the world.

I think Arkansas has a bad stereotyped image but some of that is deserved because of the older generation that refuses to let us moved forward by not allowing gambling which would fuel and fix our state's educational funding. There are also several dry counties in the state which prevent further economic development because large malls don't want to set up shop where the typical dining establishments won't go because they can't have liquor licenses.

Plus our state does have a huge meth problem....ok so on the whole Arkansans are a bunch of backwood backwards uneducated methheads....but that's not all of us.

Well, what? Seven of the top 10 billionaires live there? The Waltons (Wal-Mart), the Hunts, Tysons, Dillards, etc. Arkansas is a beautiful state with allot to offer everyone, we have great Universities, Ballet, Productions, everything you'd want. We do live a little slower, but that's why most people who grow up here stay here. Even our nightlife is fun, especially the club scenes.

I always think of the Beverly Hillbillies. And of course of the Arkansas handkerchief. Where you close one nostril with your finger and blow out the other. And then there's Wal-Mart and Bill Clinton.

I lived in Alabama for 5 years. People have a similar image. Whenever I was out of state, people would do Forrest Gump imitations when they found out where I lived. Best thing to do is have fun with it.

Arkansas is full of people that are generally blue collar workers who do not have a lot of money. Besides in Bentonville, because Wal-Mart is there.

i think that people do not realize all of the important things that go on in Arkansas, because they are not quite as publisized as the events in say, California.
