If you believe in something you cant see, then how do you know about your ancestries? They lived along time ago. Are they something not to believe in either? God is REAL!!

Instead of saying God for the Creator, which is a word from the Gothic (Germanic tribe that conquered Rome and gave us the Gothic Arches etc..) Why not use the numeric ONE or the Singularity, or the ALL or something that is not a PERSON so that we can include women in this CREATOR. The Jews, including Jesus of Nazareth, if he existed, called the Creator Yahweh, or Elohim. The Muslims call it Allah. Only the Christian have kept the word for the Creator from a conquering tribe that is now defunct. The Gothic empire is gone and we only see a few "goths" still beilieving in it's philosophy.

ONE, the SOURCE, the FORCE etc...could unite people rather than the Male, GOD the FATHER and his SON, another Male, and then the HOLY GHOST, a spirit....no women at all....That does not represent the Creator....Where do women come from? the rib of Adam?...Give me a break and give your head a shake.

IT (GOD) is a myth...ONE could be REAL and SCIENTIFIC.

Man made God in his image. I would argue that seeing the mess IT made of the affairs of MEN, that God must be Female!!...LOL

even though I'm an atheistic Christian because I believe Christ lied for the sake of expediency I'll respond anyway your belief is different from mine no-one has exclusivity on knowing so why make a feud out of differences in belief. You really are reaching !
ancestry has evidence and sometimes proof the idea of God is all smoke and mirrors..... do you worship /Criss Angel when he walks on water too ... see how lame the feud really is? fantasy is real then also. Big deal ! peace out and enjoy life instead!

I believe in my ancestors. I didn't just show up on the planet one day out of nowhere. I even knew some of them personally. They were real people made of flesh and blood. They talked about their ancestors, whom I assume were real, since I don't think that my parents just came out of nowhere either and I have no reason to think they were lying to me. I even remember meeting one their ancestors, my father's mother. I don't think she popped up from nowhere without ancestors either, but I could be wrong because because I never actually met any of them. All I really have to go on is what I've heard and read about them. My Grandmother could have been lying for all I know. I guess that since all the stories that I've heard about my ancestors seem a lot more believeable than the stories I've heard about God, I have to wonder whether he's actually real or not. Besides, none of the stories I ever heard about God even came from any of my own ancestors, so I don't even know if the people who told the stories about God are even real either.

I believe in things that their is evidence of. I can see their graves. I can tell that I am here which is a result of their being here. I can see the ruins of the cities and monuments they built. There is plenty of evidence.

There is no similar evidence for a god. All I see is an old book written by religious zealots. By that standard, I should believe Charlie Manson is God because he had about the same number of followers and they all thought he was. Hell, at least I can tell for sure he actually lived.

Oh, not THIS question again!!!

So, because my ancestors lived a long time ago (hint: that's why they are my ancestors, BTW) that means God is real? I may be dumb tonight, but I'm afraid I'm not following.

Anyway, my ancestors had children who had actual proof of their existence. These children had children of their own who could testify to the existence of their parents. These children had their own children, who were likewise aware that their parents existed... (NOTE: how many generations ago are you talking about when you say 'your ancestors'?) Anyway, there comes a moment, when you get to my grandparents, some of who had their children, and two of these children happen to be my own parents. Now, if you doubt my parents' existence, I can introduce you to them.

I assume that if your strange thinking leads to the 'conclusion' that God is real, my thinking would lead to the conclusion that he isn't, but I'm getting a bit confused, now. So, you tell me...

The fact that I had ancestors is not a supernatural claim. I know people exist, I see them right now. I know how people come into existence and it is a purely natural process. My belief that I had ancestors is based on tangible evidence.

There is no evidence for the existence of god(s). That's why you have faith. Faith is not knowing, if you knew..you wouldn't need faith. And if faith is what it takes to make something true, then that means all religions are true.

Seriously there was no talking snake....God is FAKE!!

So by that reasoning, I couldn't believe that the Bank of America down the street didn't open for business today, because I didn't see it happen? I would have to believe in God to know that the Bank of America opened for a regular day of business today? I don't understand your reasoning.

I don't really study my ancestry. What difference does it make where my genetic material came from? I live in the present, rather than the past or the future.

Just to let you guys know...

All "proof" is in the eye of the beholder.

No matter what.

It is factual that we can't "prove" the beginnings of the earth no matter what (all we have are theories to go by, scientifically or religiously)... so far.

So, stop bickering. It's not worth it.

Just find something you believe, and know the reason why you believe it.

We have PROOF of our ancestors, real tangible remains that we can actually touch and feel (if we're lucky enough to know an archaeologist, anyway). We do not, however, have any PROOF of an almighty all-powerful magical superbeing that can make bread rain from the sky, turn rivers into blood, etc, etc.
