It is just plain disgusting! The habit and the tossing as well. If you are a cigarrette smoker, why on Earth would you think that people or even the government has to put up special ashtrays for you? Same way as drugaddicts. Are they going to ask for ashtrays or special hazardous waste cans for their needles too???
It is your responsibility to dispose properly of your cigarrette BUTTS; not companies or the government or Wal-Mart ! I hope they get fined for each butt tossed around...

It isn't acceptable. Some cities counties impose fines on people who flick cigarette butts out their car window or litter anything. You could set up a tiny trash can and a sign requesting that butts be thrown away in it. It worked for a family friend who was tired of children leaving candy wrappers all over her front lawn. But of course, how many cities have the resources to actively pursue and fine those people who litter?

I often notice them in places were there are no ashtrays. What happened to those bins with the ashtrays on top. As for litter I see people throw all sorts of things on the ground. And I personally hate gum chewers for the same reason. Our government does provide needle disposal units in public toilets.

Interesting question, and a very true observation. It's especially common at traffic lights. There is usually a shoal of butts where the cars have to stop and wait for a light to change.

It proves that even THEY don't want the cigarette around them. Smokers in general tend to be people who do not have it all together in their life, and they feel no shame in littering.

How about you not worry about it, because there's more litter and junk all over the roads than just cigarette butts. Do you think clean-up crews have orange garbage bags full of nothing but cigarette butts? No, I don't think so either.

I HATE that! Espesially when they are driving while smoking, and when they're done, they flick the cigarette butt out of the window like it's biodegradable or something. Nasty habit equal nastier habits!

because smokers are VERY SELFISH people. And when it comes to smoking they dont care that they are killing those around them and trashing our planet.

Well, I just noticed at Walmart yesterday that there wasnt even an ashtry by the door, so thats why ppl throw them down.
