The D.Is will get you in the shape they want you in. Be with your friends and family. You'll have plenty of time to train. Trust me.

Definitely get in really good shape -- 2 months is more than enough. I went into basic training in so-so shape and I wished I had trained because it's so much better when you go into something like that prepared. I may be wrong but I don't think getting in shape and hanging with friends are mutually exclusive -- maybe just modify it to start the nights out earlier? Or if you can sleep late, as long as the hangover isn't there, no big deal i would think. Hangovers suck anyway so ... aint missing much if the partying is modified slightly to make sure that isn't a factor. Again, i think both can be done with some simple changes -- starting the night out earlier can be pretty cool sometimes.

You can do both. Have a party with your friends a few days before leaving, say your goodbyes and then the last few days you can have to yourself doing whatever you need to do to prepare to leave for Boot Camp. When you get to your permanant duty station after Boot and your training in whatever job your going to do, you can take leave. Its not like you aren't ever going to see your friends again.

Just remember when you get to boot camp it is all a mind game. The D.I's are going to play with your head and make you feel lousy. They will run the crap out of you and then some. Some days you are going to feel so alone. In the end on graduation day you are going to be so proud of yourself.

I was in Basic Training (Army) in 1991. I served for 4 years. When I look back on Basic now, I always laugh cause at the time it was so serious, but now when I think of it, it was kind of fun.

Thank you for joining the USMC. Your life is going to change for the better!

I have been in your shoes. I remember when I left for Marine Corps boot camp, I would say train and get in the best shape you can cause its gonna be rough. But make sure you spend enough time saying bye to everyone cause its gonna be a lonely 3 months. Good luck!! OOrahhh Marine!!!

Vietnam Vet. Party for now and spend time with your friends. Don't worry about the training....that WILL come and plenty of it. You'll get all siked up later when you're with all your combat buddies. Have fun before you leave (sinceably) and DON'T FORGET to hug your mama and thank her for every breath you have ever taken. Shake your Dad's hand, say your prayers and get on the bus. Best of luck to you soldier and thanks in advance for doing what you do! Big salute here.

Do some of both bc really it's no good if you just study or just party - I know bc sometimes I study too much and then I get overtired and irritable. Working out now will benefit you later though.

Congrats for taking the challenge and I wish you all the best - remember when it gets hard - you're tougher! lol Good luck and take care!

Just try to be ready and trained as much as you can, and thanks for being one of the few and the proud Marines.. Think about trusting God and worry about doing what is right for our nation and remember, it's not this life that matters anyhow..Take care and God Bless you. It takes a real man to become a Marine, that's why they are so few. Remember that when Clinton was in office the military was cut back to the bare bones, and he didn't care about arming them either.. Vote for what is right.. take care.. and again Thank you!

well enjoy your friends because your right you won't see them for awhile, and after boot camp they won't be the same to you anymore. you'll have a life goal and plan when your done and seeing them and hanging with them again, well your see there imatureness and you might see there petiness. my hubby came back from basic so diffrent, in a good way tho, like so mature and grown and he had this plan and for the firsttime in our relationship he just kinda took charge. so enjoy your friends now, but also start perparing yourself, you'll have to run, alot the day you get there, and when it hurts and you wanna stop, you can't, so get yourself ready. you'll do fine in basic, and don't stand out. and eat really fast. and stay out of trouble there. good luck and enjoy your hair lol
