Miyamoto Musashi the 5 rings and the bio of him was very good. He killed with one blow of the usually wooden sword, because he figured out how to win before he fought. He was an amazing man.

The basic approach is sound. One should formulate one's beliefs on evidence. Since evidence of god's existence is entirely lacking, there is no utility in believing in it.
