The Church of Christ doesn't have music in worship services or any-other time. That is, if they are the true Church of Christ.
There have been splits in The Church and some have gone astray. They decided they knew a better way.
There is no better or no other way.
The Church does not have music in worship because it is not authorized by the scripture.
Ephesians 5:19
SPEAKING to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, SINGING AND MAKING MELODY IN YOUR HEART to the Lord.
Revelation 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
If it is not authorized is Sin.
If you add to Gods word it is Sin.

All churches of Christ are different as they have no centralized authority like say the Catholic church or Baptists. Each Church of Christ has a group of elders who dictate church policy direct from the New Testament as how worship service is to be conducted.
The Churches of Christ consider themselves to be New Testament churches which means they model themselves after the churches you read about in the epistles (the letters of the New Testament churches). They all differ in details for example some require women to wear hard coverings during services while others do not. They all do tend to take a literal translation of the Bible and practice avoidance of some things other churches tolerate for instance they do not allow drinking because it can lead to drunkeness while Catholics serve wine or they don't have dances because they believe it can lead to premarital sex while Mormons have dance socials.
There was a book written called "What Is The Church of Christ?" by a Church of Christ scholar that you may want to read. Despite what you hear on Nancy Grace the Church of Christ is not a cult because it has no centralized authority like a cult has they are all independent of one another and have no set doctrine. Church leaders are held accountable for their actions unlike cults. Members are encouraged to make friends even outside the church, cults do not permit this. I could go on but this is an answers forum not a rant request.

Members of the "Church of Christ" do not allow stringed instruments in their church services, but they use it for their entertainment, for singing to other people. The irony there is that, they will sing with stringed instruments to humans (in turn either showing affection or praiseto that person) but will not do that to God. Rev 15:2,3 shows that God allows the use of stringed instruments, harp, to sing the song of the Lamb. Eph 5:19 uses the word psallo, which is the Greek word that can be accompanied by STRINGED instruments. The same word is used in Romans 15:9 which is prophecy that was fulfilled based on Psalms 18:49 which uses the word zamar which means can be accompanied by STRINGED instruments. If what they say that psallo has no stringed instruments, then they are in fact saying that Romans 15:9 has not been fulfilled. They also say that the instrument is the heart, but is the heart a STRINGED instrument?
If we take their position, Eph 5:19 doesn't say sing with clapping , but how come they clap their hands when singing? They say that the use of stringed instruments is part of the Mosaic Law, but where is it in the law of Moses regarding the use of stringed instruments?
The Bible does not prohibit the use of stringed instruments when singing. It doesn't require the use of it nor prohibits it.

The Campbellite Church of Christ indeed prohibits the use of instrumental music in church, on Old Testament Biblical grounds, rather much like the Orthodox church prohibits instruments. At the same time, acapella singing is greatly encouraged (as it is in the Orthodox tradition).

There are other denominations named "Church of Christ", some offshoots off of the original Campbellite organization. The wikipedia disambiguation pages covers these, and particularly mentions those that do permit instrumental music:

First of all, there is no universal "churches of Christ", each is independent of one another unless you are talking about the Kip McKean bunch ("International Church of Christ"). So it would be difficult to bunch them all together.
Secondly, I suppose when you say "live music", you mean "instrumental" music because all "churches of Christ" that I know of sing as part of their worship. If you mean "instrumental" music, the reason that SOME "churches of Christ" do not allow it is because they look only to the Bible for authorization. God tells us how to please Him via the Bible.
God has given us the ability to worship Him however we want. However, only by obeying His Word will we be acceptable. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 7:21-23 that not all religious people will going to Heaven -- only the people that obey God (follow His Word the Bible).
Lastly, if you are referring to "singings" as outside of the worship services (church), you are talking about entertainment. We can entertain ourselves and others by singing hymns with instrumental music -- it is not part of the worship service.
Hopefully, this clears things up if I have gotten your question right.

churches of Christ believe, as the Bible says, to make music with your heart. They do not feel instrumental music, such as piano's and organ's is biblical.
Acappella music is also used in their singings.
I hope this helped you a little. :)

They do allow live music. They aren't against it. It must be the minister's decision.
