there is no yes or no answer. The answer is in the wording. "Illegal" immigrants. Not legal. Not immigrants. "Illegal" immigrants. If i went to Mexico and broke the law what would happen to me? Would they just let me go? Would they just send me home? NO! I broke the law and there is a price to pay for that. What you and many others suggest is that we should ignore the laws of our country "just because". Get real. There is a process in place to become a "LEGAL immigrant". Use it and there will be not problem. How can a citizen of another country come here "ILLEGALLY" and then try to dictate to us what to do. It doesnt work that way. Come here legally, become a citizen, vote or run for office, try to get the law changed then I dont have a problem with it. Until then legal is legal and everything else is "ILLEGAL". Go home and do it right.

Actually, many are already serving in the military, only they do not get citizenship for there sacrifice. Even as we argue over immigration, there are illegal immigrants serving (and dying) in the US military in Iraq and other parts of the world. It seems the least we could do is grant citizen ship to these people, especially since Americans do not seem very eager to join the fight.

"This month, officials arrested three foreign language instructors at Fort Bragg. Over the summer, authorities apprehended 74 construction workers lacking documentation at Camp Lejeune, the Marines' major base on the Atlantic Ocean, and caught 49 illegal immigrants at North Carolina's Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Illegals have also been caught at bases in Idaho and Florida."

there are still too many loop holes. what needs to happen is those employer's who hire illegal immigrants should be fined to the fullest extent of the law! (my thought on this is deport them as well...a business owner shows greed when he can knowingly hire three illegals for the same "loss" as one American per hour.
it's not as easy as you think it is. your theory and the ones that yours probably derived from are great idea's, but again, the citizens of the United States should also be penalized as well for hiring them.
California is doing it right by not leasing to illegals...but the problem is, they go elsewhere.
cheap labor has cost us just as much as the green card issue has.

I don't think I would support it. It sounds a little dehumanizing and impersonal. We indirectly force enough of our citizens to join the military...and that hasn't seemed to help fix our countries problems. I don't think it would help the immigration problem. Besides, I bet half of the illegal citizens in this country would probably love to join the military.
You are talking about a population that works for 3 dollars an hour...if they are lucky, to live in overcrowded, unkept, and unsafe living conditions. They are constantly taken advantage of...they don't speak enough english to be able to control anything that happens to them, and most of them who will qualify for our governments services...like childcare and foodstamps are too afraid to apply for any of those.
Joining the military would be seen as a great help to them...not help the immigration problem...and our government clearly is not interested in helping them. Further our country relies of their slave labor to keep the rich, rich, and the poor, poor without a say.

yes, but that does not include the whole family. if the wife wants to be legal she can join to. American women join, they can to. like some one said earlier, we will have all walks of life flocking in the country then. we'll be over populated with all nationality's from across the world.

No. The second option sounds more like a reward for breaking the law.

no because they say they don't want to fight in America stupid war!
Why don't we say, lets all obey the laws and if illegals are caught breaking the law entering the country they get deported immediately!
we need to stay out of wars. besides illegals don't know how to obey the laws, how would they last in the military?
