Hi :)
Even as a Christian, I used to DJ for a secular heavy metal radio station. I love that music you mentioned! I didn't know Dave was a Christian though...I mean, I suspected it, but I never actually heard him confirm it. As for Metallica, I don't know if any of them are now (though I heard James Hetfield say something about learning that he's not God.) But their old music, though it had Biblical themes, was not on the side of God...more like their interpretations in frustration against it. You know like how atheists mock the Bible and Christianity.
But also, I've heard people mock Christian Heavy Metal, simply b/c of the sound of it. I'm guessing they don't listen to the lyrics, b/c if they did, they'd realize that though it's basically the same sound as what's not Christian, they lryics are totally evangelical. And many have their own sounds now...not trying to copy the poplular bands. Like the 7 method, Disciple, Eso Charis, Zao, Deliverance, No Innocent Victim, Staple...ya know?
Anyway...as for your question, I just have to say "Amen", b/c I don't understand it either.

I think that some people just don't pay close enough attention to the lyrics of songs and therefore don't truly know what they songwriter meant to portray. There's plenty of christian bands that are played mainstream and so many people don't realize they are christian, in some cases they even misunderstand the lyrics to the point of believing the song is about something very opposite of what it truly is. Sometimes, when you have music such as heavy metal it's not so much the words and what they mean that people judge - it's more of the feeling they get. And, with heavy metal you tend to get that screaming, hyped up feeling which, unfortunately, can be associated to irrational impulse. That's jmust my opinion, but to be honest I am a christian who also listens to just about everything - including heavy metal - and I don't automatically view it as "satanic"

yes those bands may not be satanic but certain songs from bands like AC/DC are such as Hells Bells, Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, and the Rolling Stones' Sympathy for the Devil are (not that I don't listen to them or anything, but...). I'm not sure why they would do that. It's not what I do because my mom won't let me watch horror movies (she doesn't even let me listen to some of those songs).

Some Christians are afraid to change their ways. They consider sin to anything they are afraid of. In my country their is this band(not metal though) the title is about Judas(in my country Judas is almost considered the devil) the lyrics are kind of evil but if you look at it carefully there is a hidden meaning to it, a more Godly meaning.

there are plenty of stuff available on earth ,
God commanded to eat all from the Garden of Eden except the one in the middle ,but our fore parents Adam and eve ate the fruits and sinned , this was sin of disobedienace the first on earth , then cain killed his brother Abel and so on ,
we have to take only the needed ones not all of them that are available on earth, the needed ones to be with in the good ones not from all that is there
so insuch a way many incidents that make a man to lead to confusions and complications
I hope and pray to mention that Lord Jesus is the only Way for mankind to lead to Eternal.

We as Christians should go on making sure of what is acceptable to God and not trying to justify why what we do that we really know is probably not really acceptable. The Bible is very adament about what we take into our minds and what we think about and talk about.
Philippians 4:8: "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are of serious concern, whatever things are righteous, whatever things are chaste, whatever things are lovable, whatever things are well spoken of, whatever virtue there is and whatever praiseworthy thing there is, continue considering these things"
Ephesians 4:17-32: "This, therefore, I say and bear witness to in [the] Lord, that YOU no longer go on walking just as the nations also walk in the unprofitableness of their minds, 18 while they are in darkness mentally, and alienated from the life that belongs to God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the insensibility of their hearts. 19 Having come to be past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness.
20 But YOU did not learn the Christ to be so, 21 provided, indeed, that YOU heard him and were taught by means of him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that YOU should put away the old personality which conforms to YOUR former course of conduct and which is being corrupted according to his deceptive desires; 23 but that YOU should be made new in the force actuating YOUR mind, 24 and should put on the new personality which was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty.
25 Wherefore, now that YOU have put away falsehood, speak truth each one of YOU with his neighbor, because we are members belonging to one another. 26 Be wrathful, and yet do not sin; let the sun not set with YOU in a provoked state, 27 neither allow place for the Devil. 28 Let the stealer steal no more, but rather let him do hard work, doing with his hands what is good work, that he may have something to distribute to someone in need. 29 Let a rotten saying not proceed out of YOUR mouth, but whatever saying is good for building up as the need may be, that it may impart what is favorable to the hearers. 30 Also, do not be grieving God’s holy spirit, with which YOU have been sealed for a day of releasing by ransom.
31 Let all malicious bitterness and anger and wrath and screaming and abusive speech be taken away from YOU along with all badness. 32 But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave YOU.

People have always contradicted themselves like this. It tells us that we need to think more about the decision we make in our lives, instead of just going along in life without thinking about the decisions we make and the repercussions. We must all make our own educated decisions, and then deal with them.
