My dorm room is so plain, and I want it to look better but I'm not sure how to do this without spending money I do not have. Any ideas that would not be to expensive would be helpful!

I see you are living in a dorm room, you go to school. That means that you are able to print things off at school for cheap I am assuming. Anyway, I would suggest finding pieces of art you like, print them out in black and white, and frame them. Or, simply create your own. Another suggestion is finding some colorful bedding to help spruce up the room. Once you find a bedspread you like, pull colors from that for other accessories around the room. One more suggestion is to make some curtains for your window. An idea for curtains would be to find some cheap curtains (preferably a single, solid color), i.e white curtains, and with a paint roller and i.e. black fabric paint, proceed to roll on horizontal stripes about 3in. thick. Any two color combo would do and with the horizontal lines running in the room, it helps to elongate any wall it is on.Keep things simple, clean ( dorm rooms are so small! ), and organized!
If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.
Hope I helped!
For cheap, nice accessories try:
Target
IKEA
Thrift stores

Go to a few garage sales, on collection days, check other peoples trash in the neighborhood (some people throw out good stuff) and use your imagination. Be creative with the walls. Like Picaso, use thin and thick parrallel diagonal lines of colors that blend together and find a starting point in a corner and bounce them from ceiling to floor around the room till they meet at your starting point. (Thin lines 1--2 inches and thick lines 3--4 inches respectively) In open areas outside the lines, paint a few circles of varying sizes, cresents, squares, triangles...If you find a lamp in the trash, paint it with one of your wall colors and the lamp shade with the others with the same designs as the walls... As I said, use your imagination. Have fun, it's your room...
