My husband is going to Balad, Iraq. I want to know if their are any soldiers returning from Iraq and know on a scale from 1 to 10 on how dangerous that town is and an overall observation. Let me know any info you may have on the subject.

Balad (Arabic: بلد) is a city 50 miles (80 kilometres) north of Baghdad in Iraq. It is located within the borders of the so-called Sunni triangle; however, Balad is a primarily Shiite town of approximately 100,000.

On Oct. 15, 2006, Balad was hit by horrific violence. After the slaying of 17 Shi'ite workers, Mahdi army militia retaliated by killing at least 78 Sunnis in a spasm of sectarian violence, police, doctors and local residents reported.[1]

Military camps
The Air Force calls this base Balad Air Base, although it is actually located within the municipality of Yethrib. The other branches call it Camp Anaconda. Its real name is LSA Anaconda. It is probably best known for having the only Army & Air Force Exchange Service 35mm Projection Screen movie theatre in Iraq, and a full size swimming pool. Known colloquially as "Mortaritaville" by some of its residents, it is also derogatorially called "Pogadishu" by combat arms soldiers, in reference to the large number of non-combat arms soldiers, or the "Pog" (Personnel Other-than Grunt) stationed there.

Broadcasting infrastructure
Balad has a shortwave relay station SED.

SED's transmission capabilities

16 x 500 kw shortwave transmitters
26 HR type curtan arrays
SED has similar transmission capabilities to RCI's Sackville Relay Station, and DW's Wertachtal Relay Station.

I would guess it is a five...tell your hubby I apperciate what he's doing for our country, good luck!

Oh, I am so so sorry. :( That's terrible. But I cannot let you know why he is appearing like that or why he did that, best he can. Maybe you bought married too quickly or probably he used to be seeing any person else. The first month or so for a brand new married couple or perhaps a new couple is nice. You're so in love and loopy approximately each and every different, however mainly after approximately a month you are now not as lovey dovey and your courting turns into extra severe. If he cried in the course of the vows he mostly did I love you. I suppose you will have to ask him why he married you and why he did what he did and why he left you. You mostly have many questions and I suppose you deserve a few solutions, so I'd flippantly attempt to speak to him approximately it.

Here is an article I found that might be helpful:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15285032/

Basically it seems your husband may be deployed to this specific area due the to mass amounts of native fatalities that occured there this month. It says that Balad has been pretty quiet until that occurance and they want to basically increase forces there due to it. I'd say it seems pretty safe compared to some of the other areas that are much more solitude and camp-like, whereas it seems Balad is a huge air base with lots of traffic and military presence. I wish him well and pray for your families.

Here's an article about soldiers who are standing up and refusing to be part of Bush's war crimes. You know Bush is pushing for a law to grant his folk immunity from war crimes prosecution, don't you? Why do you think they're doing this?

The Iraq War is a criminal enterprise and a criminal enterprise only. Your husband should refuse to obey illegal orders - this was established at Nuremberg - by US!!!!

That's where your husband would show his courage, by standing up for the constitution and refusing to kill Iraqis for Bush's bank account.

Probably best not to know. You'll drive yourself crazy worrying. I know its easier said than done, but for your sanity you need to leave it alone and trust in his training. I'm sure he'll be fine as long as he stays on his toes and remembers everything he has been taught. I am proud of him and all our service men and women for volunteering. Thank you.
